ROBERTO VALENZUELA was drawn to wedding photography in large part because of his own wedding to his high school sweetheart. After over 10 years of knowing each other and 6 years of dating, Kim and Roberto got married on New Year’s Eve in 2004. That evening was so special, that it redefined what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. Documenting people in one of the most special days of their lives has become his focus and passion. Roberto believes great photography can be achieved by paying attention to the surroundings and grabbing special moments as they unfold throughout the day, therefore, allowing the wedding to be about the bride and groom, and not turning it into a daylong photo shoot. Roberto strives to create elegant, real, and editorial-style images that tell a story and, most importantly, do not go out of style. Roberto also understands the balance between a photojournalistic approach and beautiful portraiture. This balance is what gives his work his signature style. Roberto Valenzuela is based out of Beverly Hills, CA. He has been recognized as one of the world’s top wedding photographers and has won over 60 international print competition accolades from the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) association, including three-time International first place winner. He is an active speaker, teacher, and print competition judge at photography conferences across the world. Roberto is the author of the book titled Picture Perfect Practice distributed by Peachpit in bookstores across the country.
In his free time, Roberto is an avid remote control pilot for high performance acrobatic helicopters. Plays table tennis every week and is always looking for a good match. He left a 10-year long career as a concert classical guitarist to pursue his love and passion for image making.
Roberto Valenzuela graduated from the University of Arizona with a double major in International Economics and Marketing.
