GO: How would you describe your wedding planning style?
A: My style is very personalized, taking the time to get to know each of my couples and understand their visions and desires for their perfect wedding day. For the months leading up, I ensure every detail is accounted for and planned to perfection. I am there every step of the way, holding their hands and helping to make the couples’ personality and love shine through.
GO: What are some of your favorite aspects of planning a couple's big day?
A: My favorite aspect of planning a wedding is watching the bride right before she walks down the aisle and witnessing her overflowing excitement in the moments before she marries the love of her life. Knowing that I had a hand in making their dreams come true is really special. There is nothing more rewarding than the happy tears and endless smiles when everything finally comes together.
GO: What is your opinion on wedding trends vs classic décor?
A: Wedding trends come and go, but the classics are always a safe choice. A truly talented florist is able to take the couple’s perspective and combine it with timeless, stylish decor. I love an all-white wedding, but also love incorporating a statement piece that sets the tone for the entire evening, such as a magnificent escort tree.
GO: Is there an ideal amount of time a couple should dedicate to planning their wedding?
A: A wedding could be put together in a short period of time, but I always prefer a year to ensure that my clients have the option to hire all the best vendors. It also gives them the time to enjoy the planning process too.
GO: What wedding details are often overlooked when planning a wedding and designing the décor?
A: I tell every single client that "lighting makes the room," so I feel it is very important that this doesn't get overlooked. Chairs and linens are also important, because these are the primary accent to the table centerpiece.
GO: Aside from having a large budget, what transforms a "standard" wedding into a memorable, luxury event?
A: A memorable, luxury event is one that is an experience rather than a "normal wedding." What I mean by experience is a night of celebration, excitement and wow moments. This could be anything from a high energy band that puts on a "concert," adding an electric violinist, that keeps the guests moving all night long; to a choreographed first dance that takes all of the guests by surprise and keeps them talking for years to come.
GO: What can couples expect when hiring you as their wedding planner?
A: The Amy Katz Events team provides a custom planning experience that will cater to every couple's specific needs. I am available day and night ensuring every question is answered and no detail is left unnoticed. My couples become like family and my team will become their new best friends. No matter the size, I am there to answer all questions, provide support and be there day of to see through their perfect day.
GO: Do you have any advice for couples who are going through the wedding planning process?
A: Don't get caught in the small stuff and take time to enjoy each step of the way together because it will be over before you know it. As I always say, "Let us handle your stress, so you can enjoy the party."
