When the Wedding Style team paid a visit to the Algarve in Portugal for a fashion editorial shoot, the warm and friendly staff greeted us and made us feel right at home. With its prime location and close proximity to all the surrounding towns, the property is the perfect destination for a Portugal wedding, honeymoon or, in our case, a working holiday.
The Anantara Vilamoura Vibe
Anantara Vilamoura is a luxury property, yet the vibe is incredibly relaxed, casual, and a bit boho. There’s an abundance of nearby restaurants and shopping areas around the Vilamoura Marina, just a short drive away, and the property does a great job catering to avid golfers. Other amenities include the resort spa and some fantastic pool areas. We especially enjoyed our time spent at Cascades Bridge and Pool Bar, where they served up surf and turf bowls for a lite lunch.
We immediately imagined the bridge itself being a beautiful location for cocktail hour or an intimate wedding ceremony. Breakfast was served at Victoria Restaurant, and we enjoyed dinner at Emo Restaurant, which boasts spectacular views of the sunset.
Ana Coelho, the PR executive, took our team on a tour of the property, allowing us to scout areas for our editorial shoot with photographer Kellie Walsh. She truly went above and beyond in accommodating the photoshoot and ensuring all our needs were met.
Hosting a Destination Wedding at Anantara Vilamoura
Couples who travel to the Algarve in Portugal to get married will have a once-in-a-lifetime experience by hosting a destination wedding at Anantara Vilamoura. It is suggested that couples reserve their wedding date at least six months in advance, and there’s a wedding coordinator onsite to assist with the process, whether they’re planning an intimate wedding or a lavish celebration with a larger guest list.
The resort offers several options for ceremonies and receptions, depending on the estimated number of wedding guests. For the ceremony, the Anantara Vilamoura team suggests the Golf Terrace or Cascades Bridge for weddings with a guest list of 50-80 people, followed by dinner at the charming Cascades Pool or RIA Terrace. With guest lists of 80 or more, the Continental Garden is available to host up to 250 people for a ceremony or reception.
There are endless options to curate weddings based on each couple’s needs, but the wedding package features a variety of services including: Cocktail hour with a choice of six canapes and drinks; a three-course gala dinner, buffet, or BBQ menu with drinks and house wines; guest access to the Anantara Pool and Turkish bath for the bride and groom; a complimentary recreation of the couple’s gala dinner for their first wedding anniversary; printed menus; complimentary menu tasting; tables and white linens; late checkout and in-room breakfast for the newlyweds; and discounted accommodation rates for the wedding guests.
