Sedona, Arizona is a favorite wedding destination among couples who have a taste for adventure and appreciate the untouched splendor of its signature red rocks. Located just below uptown Sedona, L’Auberge de Sedona is a sprawling resort situated on the banks of Oak Creek, offering guests the most idyllic combination of towering red rocks and a peaceful Creekside setting. This 5-star property boasts stylish accommodations, an effortless sense of Southwest elegance, and a secluded bubble of luxury amid a beautifully untamed region of the United States.
Upon arrival, guests will feel as if they’ve stepped into a world of their own. Thanks to its unique location, L’Auberge de Sedona has an immersive ambiance that envelops visitors in a private, natural environment. There are 88 accommodations total, with 62 cottages offering views of the spa and garden, red rocks, or Creekside. An additional 21 hotel rooms are available, along with the iconic Creekhouse – a fantastic 5 bedroom/5 bath venue that couldn’t be more fitting for micro weddings in Sedona.
“We find that micro weddings are still looking for the aspects of larger weddings,” says Katie Cortopassi, Catering Sales Manager at L’Auberge de Sedona. “Each Creekhouse room has a king-sized bed and ensuite bathroom, so they’re like individual hotel rooms. The Creekhouse is the hub for the wedding weekend; it’s a really unique location that offers versatility, whether couples want to experience the beautiful seasons in Sedona or looking for a winter wedding destination.”
Micro weddings at the Creekhouse may begin with a welcome reception in the common room. An outdoor ceremony can take place on the lawn, followed by cocktails on the deck facing the creek. Katie recommends saving the Creekside for the reception dinner, as it offers an elegant setting that guests will love. A post-wedding Creekside brunch is also a great idea, so guests can experience how different the environment feels during the daytime – especially with local ducks playing in the water.
L’Auberge de Sedona offers countless activities and experiences to fill each guest’s itinerary during a wedding weekend. Blending sessions are available at the spa, which involves picking different scents and salts for a customized skin treatment. There are yoga instructors on hand for private sessions, which is popular for brides and their bridal parties on the morning of the wedding. Hiking, photography, and sound healing sessions will leave couples and their guests in the ultimate state of tranquility; and a rehearsal dinner with a private stargazing tour hosted by a local astronomer is a wonderful way to take advantage of Sedona’s “Dark Sky City” status, where views of the constellations are second to none.
Since L’Auberge de Sedona approaches each wedding as its own bespoke celebration, every wedding is considered individually, so custom layouts and plans can be created based on the guest list count. For larger weddings, tastings are available for the couple, allowing them to collaborate directly with the food and beverage team. Katie mentions the signature cocktail-making process, which involves asking the couple to name their favorite spirit, along with three words to describe their ideal drink. Based on the words they use – perhaps “herby,” “floral,” or “fruity,” – the food and beverage team will put together a craft cocktail to fit the profile. Of course, every wedding cocktail menu should include the L’Auberge Prickly Pear Margarita for a signature taste of Arizona and the Southwest.
Beyond wedding celebrations, L’Auberge de Sedona is the type of destination couples and families will want to return to time and time again. A date night dinner in a Creekside, ivy-covered gazebo is a romantic way to celebrate an anniversary; Creekside massages make for a blissful weekend together; and a family reunion at the Creekhouse would be one for the record books.
“There’s so many times that I’ll be sitting at my desk, and I see the sun setting,” Katie describes. “I see it every single day, but the sky changes so much and it’s so beautiful. If I were a guest, I would definitely stay along the creek because it’s so tranquil and unique. The variety of the property truly encompasses all that Sedona has to offer.”
