Set 18 miles north of the coast of Venezuela, the island of Aruba is the only destination wedding location in the Caribbean that hosts the largest vow renewal ceremony. Referred to as “One Happy Island,” locals offer a joyous reception to romantics who wish to continue on life’s great adventure together by renewing their vows. During their second annual event, in August 2018, this amazing tropical gem hosted a record breaking 500 guests.
As one of the most romantic islands in the world, Aruba continues to attract an increasing number of lovebirds from around the world. With countless award-winning beaches to choose from, the island is a staple landmark for visitors traveling to the Caribbean. Those in attendance were couples, both young and old, who publicly renewed their commitment to one another on the panoramic, powdery-white sands of Aruba’s world-famous Eagle Beach.
Among the participants were travel influencers and celebrity couples – including Lydia and Doug McLaughlin, from Bravo TV’s The Real Housewives of Orange County, as well as Ashley and J.P. Rosenbaum from ABC’s season seven of The Bachelorette.
“There’s nowhere else we’d rather ‘renew our I Do’s’ than in Aruba, it’s absolutely breathtaking,” says Ashley Rosenbaum. “We’re overjoyed to have shared this experience with the company of our children and know this moment in time is one we’ll treasure for the rest of our lives. The One Happy Island is truly magical.”
The enchanting evening displayed twinkling lights, tropical décor and chic ambiance, inspired by real destination weddings in Aruba, and featured elegant white linen with pops of vibrant Caribbean colors. Couples relished in the opportunity to celebrate their love on the world’s No. 4 beach while enjoying champagne, hors d’oeuvres, local music and Carnival-like festivities. The evening concluded with an authentic “Hora Loca” celebration with Aruba’s Carnival dancers.
