Tucked away in Utah’s gorgeous mountain landscape, the St. Regis Deer Valley is an idyllic mix of luxury and natural beauty. Located a mere 35 minutes outside Salt Lake City, this prestigious hotel is the ultimate location for local and destination weddings alike. Catering Account Director, Christina Mytinger, gives us the scoop on planning your own dream wedding in Utah and what to expect during the wedding planning process.
GO: If you had to describe the property in three words, what would they be?
A: Exquisite taste, passionate service, unbridled setting; that’s really more like three adjectives – sorry!
GO: How far in advance does a couple need to reserve a wedding date?
A: 10-13 months is an ideal time frame; however, we can certainly plan in much less or more.
GO: Are onsite wedding planners available for the wedding process?
A: I am the couple’s contact from the initial inquiry, all the way through planning, to onsite. I certainly have a huge team behind me that will jump in to specialize on the room block, culinary planning, and our fantastic banquets team executing onsite; but I am there for them from beginning to end, seeing the details planned are executed flawlessly.
We do recommend a professional Wedding Coordinator be hired as the details of design, dress, ceremony procession, welcome bags, off-site coordination, etc. are different from what we create here at the venue. We work with incredible talent to suggest to the newly engaged couple for a Wedding Coordinator.
GO: Are accommodations and buyouts available? What is the capacity limit?
A: Yes, of course. St. Regis Deer Valley houses 167 guest rooms and event space that maximizes at 300 guests – a nice option for a mid-sized wedding to be able to have free reign of the venue. Our property values exclusivity and commits to only one wedding per day, whether 20 or 200 guests. This allows a couple the flexibility of photos and activities convenient to their schedule, the luxury of focused service, and it affords their guests an intimate atmosphere for the weekend.
GO: What spaces are available for ceremonies and receptions?
A: I love that our largest event spaces are outdoors, which allows for an entire wedding from ceremony through dinner and dancing to be outside against the gorgeous slopes. The sky darkens so late in Utah, and if you and your guests are going to travel to the mountains, it’s nice to be able to enjoy the breathtaking surroundings rather than spending most of your wedding day in a ballroom which could be anywhere. I am always excited to get creative too! We recently built out a ballroom on the mountain for a bride who wanted to feel as though she and all 275 of her guests were floating It was magical!
GO: What are some of the amenities, incentives and activities that the property offers a couple?
A: Where to begin! For adventure, Park City is a natural playground in any season! As the scene for the 2002 Olympics, world-class ski and snowboard resorts are an obvious attraction with pristine runs, challenging parks or open backcountry, and offer snow mobiling, snow shoeing, and even dog sledding. The hidden secret though, are the summers. Gorgeous mountains lush with greens and wildlife are ideal for hiking and biking.
Park City boasts 550 miles of bike paths from fierce downhill to leisurely valley roads. Horseback riding, fly fishing, wake boarding, golf, paddle boarding, yoga, hot air balloons, river rafting and trap shooting are just a few more to excite your sense of adventure.
At a more leisurely pace, forage for hops in the hills, shop along historic Main Street, create your own pottery, or whiskey taste at a world-renowned craft distillery. Unwind at St. Regis’ Remede Spa with an oxygen facial or expert massage, then enjoy a sunset concert by Bright Stars Bright Nights. St. Regis guests are of course provided the distinguished experience of ski-in-ski-out access, lessons with Olympians, private tours with the distiller, and access to best of class equipment.
GO: Food is such an important element at a wedding. Tell us about your menu customization.
A: We are such foodies! Food can be such a fun and memorable piece to a wedding. While our chef has created banquet menus indicative of our venue, a wedding menu should be as unique as the couple. I once had a Bride who wanted to somehow incorporate the first meal her fiancé had made her on their third date – Lucky Charms! St. Regis’ Pastry Chef came up with Lucky Charms-cereal milk infused panna cotta! It was so heartfelt and absolutely delicious, as well as a cherished topic of conversation for guests.
GO: Service is imperative in the wedding industry. What does the St. Regis Deer Valley offer couples and their guests that set you apart?
A: St. Regis is founded on principles of service – gracious hospitality, exemplary attention to detail, incomparable passion. Our brides and grooms are global luminaries, so why would their wedding exude anything different? St. Regis Deer Valley extends 24-hour room service, tailored dog amenities, legendary champagne sabering at sunset, nightly s’mores, luxurious guest rooms, your morning coffee, the largest private wine collection in the state, and of course, St. Regis’ signature Butler service.
