California is an idyllic year-round wedding destination, with Santa Monica providing a charming and vibrant getaway for couples and their guests. For those in search of a European-inspired wedding villa, but don’t want to venture outside of SoCal, Hotel Casa del Mar offers all the style and luxury of an Italian villa with the most spectacular oceanfront setting. Elica Yoneyama, the property’s Senior Marketing Manager, shares more about what couples can expect when transforming Hotel Casa del Mar into their own private wedding villa in Santa Monica.
GO: How would you describe the architectural style of your property?
A: Hotel Casa del Mar’s stately façade is an historically significant example of Italian Renaissance Revival architecture, popular in the 1920s.
GO: What was the inspiration behind the design of your interiors and guest rooms?
A: Each room at Hotel Casa del Mar is a beachside haven intended to transport you to your own private coastal villa. The color palette mirrors the hues of the sun, sand, and Pacific Ocean just outside.
GO: When is your busiest time of year, and how far in advance should couples book if they hope to secure a date during those months?
A: While Hotel Casa del Mar is popular year-round, summer is our busiest season. We recommend booking as far in advance as possible, particularly for the months of July and August.
GO: Is there a type of wedding that fits best with your wedding villa-style property? (i.e., Traditional, glamorous, bohemian, rustic, etc.).
A: Whether you prefer your wedding to be traditional, bohemian, or Hollywood glam, Casa is perfect for small and large events for those planning to “tie the knot.”
GO: In what type(s) of cuisine does your culinary team specialize?
A: For weddings at Hotel Casa del Mar, the sky is the limit. While our specialty is coastal California cuisine, our international team of chefs can please every couple’s culinary tastes.
GO: What type of activities are available for guests to partake in during a wedding weekend?
A: In addition to its Endless Summer weather, the City of Angels offers a plethora of experiences for wedding guests to enjoy. I’d encourage them to take advantage of our Southern California sunshine and explore the majestic Will Rogers State Park and all the glorious beaches from Manhattan to Malibu. They can hike, bike or swim along this awe-inspiring Pacific coastline and capture Instagrammable moments to create lasting memories.
GO: What facilities, restaurants, or catering options do you have available for wedding week events like welcome dinners or post-wedding farewell brunches?
A: We have the Colonnade Ballroom and Terrace, Palm Terrace, Catch, and Crimson and Living Room.
GO: What are some nearby attractions that guests can visit?
A: Santa Monica and the surrounding area are full of shops, restaurants and galleries perfect for morning, afternoon and evening activities. Montana Ave, Main Street, Abbott Kinney and the Third Street Promenade comprise four of the most eclectic shopping experiences in Los Angeles. If your guests prefer to take in the coastline by sea, you can even charter a sailboat or yacht with a captain and treat your guests to sunset on the ocean.
