    SHARON GIRARD & ROBERT HIGGINS

AUGUST 8, 2012 in Bora Bora, French Polynesia

Sharon and Robert Higgins met at a gorgeous and pristine area of British Columbia, just outside of Vancouver. Rob operated a flight training center and Sharon was hired to assist in a photography shoot.

The two spent the afternoon flying over the mountains, positioning aircrafts to take photos with mountain backdrops for advertising. By the end of their day in the sky, the they both knew they wanted to know more about each other.

"IT WAS TRULY THE SINGLE MOST MEMORABLE AND MAGICAL DAY OF OUR LIVES."

Fast forward to Christmas Eve – the second Christmas Rob and Sharon spent together as a couple. Rob asked if they could go for a drive in the quaint little town of Fort Langley, and the pair spent some time browsing through shops, drinking peppermint hot cocoa, and taking in the spirit of the holidays. While sitting on a bench along the river, Rob got down on one knee and proposed.

The wedding planning process was assisted by wedding planner, Marie Perrier at the Four Seasons Bora Bora, who helped bring the couple’s vision to life. It was a perfect day in the tropics when Robert and Sharon took their vows on a beach surrounded by friends and family. A string quartet played, shells and flowers lined the aisle, and the couple’s children were the flower girl and ring bearer.

A champagne toast followed, along with a lunch of exquisite canapes and decadent French cuisine. The newlyweds were then whisked away for a photo session with their photographer and videographer, David and Chris.

Not only have we worked with David and Chris in the past, but they treated us like our closest and most caring friends would,” Sharon describes. “There’s no shortage of gifted photographers to choose from. For us, to invite them from Turks and Caicos to Bora Bora was the best decision in planning our wedding.”

Later that day, the couple’s unsuspecting guests were treated to an elaborate Polynesian wedding celebration, arriving at the site to the pounding of Polynesian tribal drums and dancers. The sound of conch shell horns filled the air as the bride was escorted across the lagoon in a Polynesian outrigger canoe, ready to be presented to her husband and a warrior priest.

During the beachside reception dinner, beautiful details awaited the wedding party such as Swarovski starfish napkin holders, ice sculptures, giant clamshells filled with bottles of champagne, and lush floral arrangements. Dinner was a five course French meal starting with lobster bisque, and ending with the cutting of the wedding cake.

Throughout the entire evening, guests had a front row seat to an endless stream of surprises and entertainment. From an intricate video production, to Polynesian dancers, to fireworks, to lit lanterns floating into the night sky, it was an epic island-style celebration filled with love and laughter.

“It was truly the single most memorable and magical day of our lives,” says Sharon.
