After connecting on Hinge, Sapna Singh and Sachin Kamboj decided to meet up for dinner on a Friday evening in June 2017. “Sachin had just wrapped up working on marketing Wonder Woman, and I was tired from a long week of work,” Sapna recalls. “I almost cancelled our date but felt guilty about cancelling at the last minute. I arrived at the restaurant Sachin had picked (Emporium Thai, Westwood) first and it had a nice ambiance and was a good choice.
When Sachin arrived I thought, ‘He’s cuter than I remember.’ Sachin says he remembers thinking that I was cute, funny, and had good energy. Our date was a lot of fun and we ended up walking for a bit afterwards. As we ended the night, for the first time in a while I thought, ‘I would actually be disappointed if he didn’t call.’”
“OUR FOCUS BECAME CREATING AN EXPERIENCE THAT WAS BOTH ELEGANT AND CAREFREE.”
The day after their first anniversary, Sachin surprised Sapna with a beautiful proposal at Brooklyn Bridge Park. He had planned a photoshoot for the occasion, so the moment was perfectly captured against New York City’s iconic skyline. After, the newly engaged pair Facetimed with their families, then headed to Cecconi’s to celebrate with champagne and Italian food.
“We wanted our wedding to reflect who we are as couple and, since we love exploring, we wanted it to be a destination of sorts,” Sapna describes. “An international destination would have presented a challenge for some of our guests, so we settled on the Central Coast, one of our favorite weekend getaways outside of LA. Because we didn’t want a traditional ballroom wedding, we searched for an outdoor venue and fell in love with Greengate. It was the perfect place to host a multi-day wedding. Once we had a venue, our focus became creating an experience that was both elegant and carefree.”
The ceremony featured a simple wood mandap that was brought to life with vibrant, winding florals that created the perfect focal point without distracting from the natural surroundings. For the ceremony, the Greengate barn was transformed into an Old Hollywood-esque world with twinkling lights, a grand bar, and vintage furniture. Flowers, pops of red, and vintage gold glassware set the scene beautifully.
“Our favorite moments included being on the mandap (it was so peaceful during our ceremony) and sneaking away for sunset photos up in the vineyards,” recalls the bride. “Immediately after our wedding we spent a week at the naturally stunning and intimate Hotel Wailea in Maui. Watching our first sunrise as a married couple atop the Haleakala Crater is a moment we will never forget.”
