A Wedding Weekend in Capri Inspired by a Love of Italy and Red Wine

Jenna and Tommy Shabinsky were set up by a mutual friend in the Hamptons, New York during the summer of 2020. Their first date took place at Cittanuova restaurant in East Hampton, on the very first night restaurants had reopened for outdoor dining. Tommy was already seated with a glass of Chianti when Jenna arrived, immediately sparking easy conversation about their shared love of red wine and Italy.

Right from the start, Tommy knew that Jenna was special, and planned a series of romantic dates over the coming weeks. Jenna couldn’t believe how much the two of them had in common, and how easy and fun spending time together was from day one.

“The weekend felt like a true celebration of everything Jenna and Tommy love.”

After an incredible summer spent falling in love, Jenna and Tommy quickly moved in together in October, living between NYC, the Hamptons, and Miami. A little over one year later, in March of 2022, the couple planned a ski trip to Aspen with all of their siblings. Little did Jenna know, Tommy had a few surprises up his sleeve for the weekend. On night one of the trip, Tommy proposed with the Maroon Bells mountains in the background and kicked off an amazing weekend of celebrating with their brothers and sisters.

A Love of Italy and Red Wine

When the wedding planning process began, one thing was certain – the celebration should take place in the summer, the couple’s favorite time of year and the season during which they fell in love. They had two destinations in mind: the Hamptons, where they first met and spent every July, or Capri, Italy – the place they had first vacationed together and vowed to return to each summer.

Ultimately, the couple was inspired by what bonded them during their first date – a mutual love of Italy and red wine – and chose to host their closest friends and family for a destination wedding weekend in Capri.

    Capri Moments

Partnering with Capri Moments wedding planning, the bride and groom brought their love of hosting and bringing people together to their entire weekend. The goal was to give their guests an incredible destination wedding experience in Capri, while making everyone feel like they were being welcomed to the couple’s own home at each event.

Jenna’s focus was menu planning – making sure that delicious food and drink were abundant, with many family style and serviced meals, and an open bar throughout the weekend. Tommy’s love of music shined through in his choices for each event, which included a night of dancing at Anema e Core on Friday, a DJ, saxophone player, and vocalist for their party at La Conca del Sogno beach club on Saturday, acoustic singing group The Knox Club during the reception dinner on Sunday, and DJ Fabio Vuoto for dancing afterwards. The weekend felt like a true celebration of everything Jenna and Tommy love – food, wine, music, family, close friends, Italy, and summer.

    A Tuscan Honeymoon

Once the guests packed up and went home or onto their own trips, the newlyweds kept the romance going with a two-week Tuscan honeymoon, starting at the romantic Il Pelicano for some rest and relaxation. Their itinerary also included visiting Firenze for two nights for a bit of city action and sites, and ended at Castello Como del Nero in Chianti – the region that kicked off their very first conversation on their very first date.

The couple is excited to return to Italy this year with their new baby girl, named Summer.
