Sepideh Haftgoli and Max Loong first met at Fig & Olive – one of their favorite restaurants in Los Angeles. Both were at the bar with friends and waiting for their tables when they began talking to each other, eventually exchanging phone numbers.
“We just knew that there was this instant chemistry,” describes Sepideh. “Max had such a handsome and attractive smile. Sometimes there is one feature on a person that really shows their personality and what kind of character they have. With Max, it is definitely his smile.”
“SINCE TRAVEL IS SUCH A SIGNIFICANT PART OF THE COUPLE’S LIVES, THEY DECIDED TO PLAY UP THE THEME.”
During a road trip in Europe, the couple found themselves at the iconic Hotel Du Cap Eden Roc. Max surprised Sepideh with a day of salon treatments and pampering, followed by a romantic dinner. On the way to the restaurant, Max steered them on a detour where Sepideh noticed rose petals along the pathway, leading up to a private cabana. There, near a ledge overlooking the ocean and sunset, he popped the question.
“Max is the most romantic of men that I have ever met in my life,” Sepideh says. “He knows how much I love Disneyland, incorporating my love for Disney in the proposal by having Disney figurines along the pathway, and the ring being in a Disney jewelry box!”
With Max and Sepideh both being producers, they envisioned having a unique, interactive, and fun experience for their guests. A destination wedding in Bali was in the works, with the bride-to-be spending most of the wedding planning process working on the details from Los Angeles.
“We weren’t only planning our wedding, but three other events – the welcome party barbeque, tea ceremony, and white beach party,” she explains. “Since we also hold weddings at our brand new resort, Hidden Hills Villas, it allowed us to become increasingly familiar with the various Bali vendors that we would want to suggest for our very own clients.”
In lieu of a traditional guest book, two custom globes were created in the wedding décor color scheme (white, peach, yellow, cream, some greenery, and a touch of gold), and displayed against three vintage suitcases. Fairy lights were also strewn over the dining area and hung from trees.
One of the evening’s highlights was the speeches – a speech from the bride’s brother, in particular.
“He apparently had found my diary from when I was little, and chose to read excerpts from my diary in what he thought would be my childlike voice,” she says. “And he incorporated things that I said at the time related to boys. It was hands down the funniest speech I have ever heard, and it was an absolute hit at the wedding.
After celebrating such a memorable wedding day with their friends and family, the newlyweds were happy to be able to look forward to an “all-white party night” the next day. Even now, guests still talk about the wedding and how that trip to Bali was a life-changing experience.
