    CAROLINE SCHNEIDER AND SIMON KUMMLE

    September 8, 2018. Ascona, Switzerland

After meeting through mutual friends at a Zurich bar in 2012, Caroline Schneider and Simon Kummle went on their first date six months later. It was clear there was something special between the two, and things moved rather quickly with Caroline soon moving to Switzerland with Simon.

Four years into their relationship, Simon popped the question at the world-renowned restaurant, “Cheval Blanc,” at the Les Trios Hotel in Switzerland. In lieu of dessert, he got down on one knee and proposed to Caroline with a Tiffany & Co. engagement ring.

FOR THEIR HONEYMOON, THE NEWLYWEDS EMBARKED ON AN EPIC SIX WEEK ADVENTURE AROUND THE WORLD.

The couple decided to celebrate their love via a multi-day destination wedding at Hotel Eden Roc in Ascona, Switzerland. Located on the northern shore of Lago Maggiore, Ascona is characterized by a small, idyllic village center with a lake promenade. Not only is Ascona the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland, but it’s where the couple share collective memories of childhood days and their first holidays together.

Caroline and Simon chose a wedding theme of “La Dolce Vita,” and the wedding design scheme was based on Dolce & Gabbana’s “Majolica” pattern. Kate Cochrane, a graphic design artist from the UK, exclusively redrew the pattern for their wedding. The design was used for the invitations, website, lakeside brunch decoration, table plan, flower arrangements, wedding cake, and gifts for the couple’s 85 guests.

During the wedding, female guests received a handmade and personalized beach bag from Marrakech containing, amongst other things, a handheld fan bearing the Majolica pattern (an absolute must on a hot summer day in Ticino), and flip-flops to comfortably navigate the path to and from the church.

The bride and groom were married in a Catholic ceremony at Madonna del Sasso – a mountaintop church overlooking Lago Maggiore, featuring baroque architecture. After the ceremony, a Frauscher speedboat whisked the newlyweds to Isole di Brissago for photographs, while their guests enjoyed a cocktail hour surrounded by the incredible views at Eden Roc Hotel. A rather “James Bond-esque” entrance was granted by a speedboat arrival at the hotel pier, where Caroline and Simon were greeted by their friends and family firing gold glitter confetti canons in welcome.

Dinner began with some great speeches, followed by an exceptional Italian four-course meal of scallops, legendary seafood pasta, beef tenderloin, and wine pairings from the Salvatore Ferragamo family. More speeches commenced afterwards, with singing and slideshows, and guests partied the night away with a DJ spinning tunes until the early hours of the morning.

For their honeymoon, the newlyweds embarked on an epic six week adventure around the world, stopping in Brazil, Peru, Chile, Fiji, Tahiti, New Zealand, Japan, and China.
