A MEDIEVAL CASTLE WEDDING AT SCHLOSS FREUDENSTEIN
As teenagers, Diana and Philipp first met ten years ago in a bar in Salzburg, Austria. After being invited to the same birthday party, the two started talking and bonded straight away.
However, they ended up going separate ways that evening and lost touch for four years, due to busy training and competition schedules. At the age of 21, they serendipitously ran into each other at another bar in Salzburg and have been together ever since.
A Birthday Proposal
Over the course of their relationship, the couple has been active in supporting each other’s vastly different sports and passions. Diana is an international dressage rider who spends the whole day with horses, while Philipp is a soccer player with a bad horse and hay allergy. Regardless, he regularly visits the stable and attends Diana’s competitions, and she makes sure to cheer him on during his soccer matches.
The engagement took place on Diana’s birthday. Since she had no idea it was coming, everything was a surprise.
You could feel that great atmosphere and happiness the whole weekend.
“I prepared a big birthday breakfast for her at our home,” Philipp explains, “with lots and lots of fresh flowers and put a letter on her plate. In this letter, I captured our journey with all its ups and downs so far. And ended it with the question of all questions: Do you want to marry me? I deliberately chose this place because while traveling, she would have definitely figured me out.”
Planning a Dream Wedding at a Medieval Castle
Diana and Philipp began their wedding planning process in July of 2022 with Fine Weddings and Parties as their planner. The wedding was to take place at Schloss Freudenstein – a medieval castle in Italy, which set a magnificent stage for a destination wedding celebration.
“We were almost in daily contact with Nadine and Freya and had every two weeks a Zoom call,” says the couple. “What we liked the most, was not only that every wish from us seemed straight away possible and easy to get; but also that we got in contact with all the different vendors of their amazing network. It was nice to also have a ‘face’ behind each service provider and get to personally know them and not only get an offer from them. It looked like every work they did was done by heart. You could feel that great atmosphere and happiness the whole weekend.”
A Schloss Freudenstein Wedding
The bride and groom’s dream wedding was a three-day celebration that started with a get together on Friday, with an all-white dress code for guests. Their Schloss Freudenstein wedding was held on Saturday, and the weekend concluded with a post-wedding brunch at noon on Sunday.
During the wedding, guests were surrounded by live entertainment and special details that included a magician, a limoncello escort wall, and a “living champagne” wall that served as the main attraction during cocktail hour. Everyone loved having the option to “ring for champagne” or “honk for gin and tonic.”
“It was for sure far above our expectations and we enjoyed every single moment,” the couple reflects. “We love to celebrate special lifetime moments with our family and friends. People from different nations and backgrounds came together and joined in the fun we had all weekend long. You could see in every single person the happiness and sparkling in the eyes. It was a weekend full of love, parties, and special moments.”
The newlyweds are planning to enjoy their honeymoon in Oman.
