A GRAND ARMENIAN WEDDING WITH FLOWERS DESIGNED BY EDDIE ZARATSIAN
Vivian and Patris are high school sweethearts who have known each other since elementary school. However, they never really spoke until their prom afterparty.
“All my friends had to convince me to go to the afterparty before I finally gave in and went,” Vivian recalls. “Patris and I met and spoke to one another at the party and didn't really start to talk and date until months later. After that prom afterparty, we all became a big group of friends and Patris and I’s friendship grew.
“We are always grateful for having such a big and loving family on both sides.”
Months later, he approached me and told me he loved me, and he knew I was the one. Internally I was blushing, of course. I was super excited and nervous. Our first date was November 5, 2014. He was both my first kiss and first boyfriend. Next thing you know, many years had passed, and we have been there for each other through the best and worst days.”
Patris proposed on February 12, 2021. One month later, the couple started looking for a wedding venue, and the wedding planning process officially began.
Designing a Wedding with Eddie Zaratsian
“Honestly, when it comes to decorating and designing on a big scale, I can't really visualize,” Vivian shares. “I pay attention to details, and I need to see things to judge whether I like ‘the look.’ When I was trying to plan my wedding, I had a lot of help from both my husband’s family and mine. I am truly thankful for my friends and family. Without our parents, this magical wedding would not be possible.”
Vivian and Patris also had the opportunity to design their wedding with Eddie Zaratsian, who is one of Southern California’s most in-demand floral and event designers.
“If it wasn't for my florist Eddie Zaratsian, I would have been lost,” Vivian adds. “When I saw how he designed my bridal shower, I was completely obsessed. I am more grateful than words can describe for Eddie's honesty, generosity, support, help, hard work, and talent.”
The Fashion
The couple’s wedding fashion picks included a custom suit for the groom made by William and Company. For her bridal look, Vivian wore a dress from Galia Lahav in Los Angeles.
“It was the best decision I ever made,” she says. “Everyone there was so nice and helpful. I really appreciate Desiree, who helped me pick out my dress, and Anthony, for helping me pick out my crown.
Maria Elena custom-made my dream bridal crown for me. I wanted everything to look perfect, and they made sure to help me make that happen. I loved how my hair and makeup turned out and received many compliments. We were both happy with how we looked and couldn't imagine it better.”
A Grand Armenian Wedding
When the big day arrived, the bride felt nervous – but it was a “happy nervous.” While waiting for the groom to arrive, she had photos taken with her parents. Prior to the ceremony, the couple chose to have a first look. Vivian’s nerves faded away as soon a she saw Patris, and it turned out to be her favorite moment of the wedding day.
“From a design perspective,” she explains, “the flowers were my favorite part. My husband and I were both in awe. When I saw my flowers, my jaw dropped, and I was speechless. Everything looked better than perfect. The look was inspired by my favorite color – pink. Eddie created a completely different magical look. I loved the colors, the type of flowers used, the candles, just everything. It was a beautiful, magical fairytale brought to life. We had a grand Armenian wedding, and Eddie's extravagant design was astonishing and breathtaking. It was the perfect dream wedding!”
Patris and Vivian’s wedding day highlighted one-of-a-kind floral installations, which set the tone for a lofty fairytale. Vivian worked closely with Eddie to create the elements together. Details included a wall of lush florals, which created the primary backdrop. It felt like an enchanted castle, with open spaces outlined window-esque shapes. Candles were set along the floor to illuminate the flora trailing to the ground. Their wedding cake was also “elegantly light as air,” swirled in coordinating buds.
“I truly had a blast at my wedding,” Vivian describes. “The guests had a great time as well, and we partied all night long. The DJ was great, and everyone told us they had a great time dancing the night away. All our family and friends said that when they walked in, they were speechless and loved how everything looked. We are always grateful for having such a big and loving family on both sides.”
For their honeymoon, the newlyweds visited the Maldives and Dubai. It was their first time traveling to both destinations, so it was an unforgettable vacation filled with surreal views, adventurous activities, and new memories.
