Dorie Fader and Matthew Teitelbaum met in Baltimore as teenagers, becoming close friends and keeping in touch throughout college and their early-twenties. During New Year’s in 2013, Matt met Dorie and her friends in Miami for a few days, which led to exploring a romantic relationship despite living in separate cities.
“Next thing we knew, Matt moved to New York seven months later and we were engaged seven months after that at the Four Seasons Palm Beach on Valentine’s Day,” describes Dorie. “Our solid friendship made for the perfect transition into lovers.”
“WE REVELED IN EVERY SINGLE DETAIL OF THE WHOLE WEEKEND. IT WAS HARD TO TALK OR THINK ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE.”
For the bride-to-be, the wedding planning process couldn’t have been more fun. From the beginning, Dorie had a precise vision of what she wanted for the big day, and credits her mom for having such elegant taste that her special décor touches were noticed by everyone. The flowers were inspired by the Four Seasons, especially the George V in Paris, and Dorie wanted the floral designs to vary in height and styles. Certain elements of the wedding décor was even inspired by some of her favorite restaurants in New York and Miami.
“If you ask Matt, he will tell you I was photographing the most random things for wedding ideas–even when we were in Cartagena last December,” Dorie says. “Any idea that popped into my brain, no matter the hour, I would email to our fabulous planner, Sara Renee. Our décor team, Always Flowers & Events, is incredibly creative, talented, and made my wedding dreams come to life!”
The wedding day was a rush of emotions that passed by surprisingly fast. Having been involved with planning the wedding the entire time, it was difficult for Dorie to wind down and relax. Fortunately, she listened to Matt’s advice, took a step back, and ended up having the most incredible weekend of her life.
“Standing under the chuppah was incredibly surreal,” she recalls. “I would do anything to get that moment back.”
Throughout the night, the newlyweds and their guests couldn’t stop smiling and dancing. The rehearsal dinner and wedding speeches also added to the warmth and love felt throughout the weekend, allowing everyone to have a genuine glimpse into Dorie and Matt’s relationship and who they are as individuals.
“After the wedding, I woke up and thought, ‘OMG I didn’t even get to eat that famous Breakers sundae we served as dessert–I’m so upset, we need a redo,” Dorie jokes. “We reveled in every single detail of the whole weekend. It was hard to talk or think about anything else.”
