Henrietta Louis and Tyler Foland’s love story started in an unconventional way – through an online game. “We talked for about six months before actually meeting in July 2009, and the first time we met in person was just as awkward as you might imagine,” Henrietta shares. “However, we continued to see each other.”
A few years later, the two moved to the same city and Tyler proposed in March of 2018. “The proposal was very quiet and casual, but still romantic,” describes Henrietta. “I was 100% surprised. He had told me that he wanted to go to dinner at a local restaurant in Ocean Beach, California.
“THE CEREMONY WAS SHORT AND SWEET LED BY A VERY CLOSE FAMILY FRIEND.”
Instead of going right to dinner, he said he wanted to go for a walk on the Ocean Beach pier. I agreed, but not without many complaints as it was very cold out that evening! Once we got down to the end of the pier, I turned around. He was on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.”
After two months of engagement bliss, the wedding planning process began. “One important part of this wedding was the date,” Henrietta notes. “It is the same date that my grandmother and late grandfather got married many years ago. We had her bring one of her wedding photos so we could take a photo with it and that was really special.”
“I knew that I wanted flowers everywhere and a floral installation over the dance floor,” she continues. “We took those ideas and ran with them! The colors I wanted were shades of pink, blush, and coral along with a lot of gold. The flowers were incredible.
The ceremony site was amazing. The ceremony was short and sweet led by a very close family friend. The reception space was romantic, classy and bright. Our first dance song was ‘You and Me’ by Dave Matthews Band – it was so amazing to dance under the incredible installation.”
