Whitney So & Farbod Melamed
August 27, 2017. Palos Verdes, California
Nearly a decade ago, in late-2009, 26-year-old Farbod Melamed noticed Whitney So from the other side of a pharmacy classroom. Over time – and along the path to becoming pharmacists together – Whitney and Farbod developed a connection built upon hard work and learning from each other. It was learning how to intertwine two different cultures, specifically, that provided an eye-opening experience for the two; and it helped create an unbreakable bond and an unmatched friendship and romance.
The night before a long trip to Asia, in the home they had built together, a surprise proposal was made. Surrounded by roses, candles, and a bottle of the finest champagne, Farbod dropped to one knee and popped the question. Once Whitney accepted and the celebration began, the newly-engaged couple realized their flight was actually schedule for that night and would be departing in five hours. So began a new journey of wedding planning, and making every decision together as a team.
When the big day arrived, the bride and groom’s Persian and Chinese families gathered for a wedding that celebrated the two cultures with harmony, grace, beauty, and love. Quite fittingly, the theme was simply this: “A loving family-oriented celebration.”
To this day, guests of Whitney and Farbod’s wedding reminisce about the warm and loving atmosphere they experienced that night. The couple’s journey together continues, as they will be welcoming twin girls in November 2018.
