    SARA MOGHADDAMJOO & JAMAL MODIR

August 26, 2017 in Los Gatos, California

Jamal Modir wasn’t expecting to meet his future wife while attending his friend’s bachelor party in Vancouver, but that’s exactly what happened when he met Sara Moghaddamjoo.

“My first impression of Sara was that she was very different. She had an angelic demeanor, carrying the patient wisdom of an old soul, combined with boundless curiosity and ambition about the world around her,” Jamal says.

Sara felt the instant connection as well. “Before we even started talking, I knew this is the man I’ve been waiting for my whole life.”

“...I FELT THE WORLD AROUND US HAD PAUSED, AND WE WERE ALONE IN A TIMELESS PLACE TOGETHER.”

After a few months of dating long distance, the couple bought a house together north of San Francisco. On Valentine’s Day, Jamal took Sara on a yacht ride around the bay, singing “Fools Rush In” and proposing under the Golden Gate Bridge at sunset.

“Now every day we can see where we got engaged from our house, and we can show it to our children,” Sara says.

Following a quick elopement at San Francisco’s beautiful City Hall, Sara and Jamal planned a summer wedding for 350 guests at the house the groom grew up in, a 50-acre estate in the Los Gatos hills. Even with only a few months to plan, they managed to pull off a truly stunning and memorable celebration.

To make sure all the details were just right, the couple flew down to Los Angeles every other week to meet with vendors and, perhaps most importantly, for Sara’s dress fittings. She worked with Simin Couture in Beverly Hills to design a trio of impeccable gowns. Her assortment of wedding outfits also included a custom Philip Treacy hat and a vintage Oscar de la Renta dress.

For the ceremony, the modern style pool was covered with glass, and Sara walked down the aisle while the couple’s favorite soprano from the San Francisco Opera performed a traditional song. Also walking down the aisle were two very special ring bearers: their pup, Wolfgang, and their friend’s puppy, Lula.

Both Sara and Jamal described reciting their hand-written vows as one of the highlights of their wedding day.

The party continued into the night under a giant tent filled with all white flowers. Sara and Jamal designed the wedding to match the clean, elegant style of the estate. In addition to the incredible décor, guests enjoyed Sufi dance performances, freshly rolled Cuban cigars and amazing fusion dishes.

The globetrotting couple chose Bora Bora for their honeymoon because neither had ever visited. They stayed in a bungalow suite at the St. Regis, where they swam with sharks, attended local Polynesian performances, ate private dinners on neighboring islands, got massages and made friends with people from around the world.

“The icing on the cake was our romantic honeymoon in Bora Bora,” Sara says. “We made amazing friends and memories in one of the most beautiful places on Earth.”
