Andrea Mays & Brice McCain

March 29, 2014 in Dallas, Texas

Andrea Mays and Brice McCain first met in Terrell, a little town in Texas where they both grew up. At that time, Andrea was a freshman in high school and sports was her only real interest. Brice, however, would write poems and letters for her almost daily. “I thought Andrea was beautiful,” he says. “She was so nice and sweet, and she was really athletic, which was cool. But most important was how she treated everyone kindly and with respect. She still has that quality.” In the end, Brice’s persistence paid off and the two have been together ever since.

On Valentine’s Day in 2012, the couple flew to Laguna Beach and were staying at the Ritz Carlton. That night, Brice proposed and Andrea gladly accepted. The wedding planning process soon began with a consultation with a wonderful wedding planner that one of Brice’s teammates had also used. Once they decided to host their wedding at Union Station in Dallas, Texas, all the other details fell into place. With Brice’s main concern being the wedding attire, he selected a blue tuxedo jacket by Louis Vuitton for himself, along with custom navy suits for the groomsmen. Meanwhile, Andrea spent six months learning how to play the guitar Brice had given her, because she wanted to surprise him at the wedding.

The tone of the wedding was first set with save the date cards that looked like a movie poster, a wedding website that mimicked the look of a movie site, and formal gold letterpress invitations. At the wedding venue, the first floor check-in area was designed to look like a vintage theater entrance with marquee posters and a wooden ticket booth. From there, guests were given programs that looks like large vintage movie tickets, and sipped champagne as they entered the second-floor ceremony room with an 80-foot aisle.

After the ceremony, flavored popcorn was passed around for everyone to enjoy while the couple’s same-day edit played at the start of the reception. The wedding décor included feather and flower centerpieces, glittery gold chargers on the tables, and multiple cakes. A live band and DJ performed onstage in front of a custom mirror and crystal backdrop, and there was also a “cell phone valet” where guests could charge their phones all night. The bride also surprised her groom with a man-cave on the balcony with cigars, a cognac bar, and PlayStation. Along with her surprise solo performance, it was the perfect night.
