    ANGELA LEUNG & HOLMAN TSUI

May 23, 2015 in Brooklyn, New York

In New York City–the city that never sleeps–many assume it’s easy to meet someone at a bar, through friends, or serendipitously crossing the street. Angela Leung and Holman Tsui, however, met online and the rest became history. At first glance, Angela thought “He’s tall and cute.” Holman planned their first date, which was at New York’s Brandy Library; and even though he discovered that Angela detested malt liquor, that first date lasted well into the night. “We both went home that night with a sense of excitement and anticipation that this was going to be something special,” Angela says.

Two years into their relationship, the couple found themselves in Australia for a summer vacation, where Holman flew them on a seaplane to a cliff side restaurant outside of Sydney. There, in front of a few spectators and a GoPro camera, he got down on one knee and popped the question.

The wedding planning process began right in Australia, when the newly-engaged pair discovered their venue–MyMoon–online. A couple weeks later, they went to visit the venue and fell in love with its charm, high ceilings, brick walls, outdoor space, and inviting atmosphere. MyMoon turned out to be the perfect wedding venue, as Angela and Holman wanted something that would represent them as a couple. “We tried to stay true to ourselves,” Angela describes. “We didn’t want a forced spectacle, but rather a celebration bringing together our closest friends and family.”

The wedding theme and décor was filled with personal touches and details, particularly with the invitations and program boxes. This included a map of the couple’s neighborhood, passport stamps of destinations they traveled to together, a personalized logo, photos of the proposal location, and stick figurines created by a friend.

When the big day arrived, friends and family members were greeted from all over the world–Hong Kong, London, Canada, Australia, and California. The ceremony was presided by the bride’s longtime friend, and her 8-year-old nephew kicked off the reception by performing on the keyboard and singing the Bruno Mars hit, “Marry You.” Guests were then treated to a night filled with great food, plenty of laughter, and watching the groom’s 93-year-old grandfather tearing up the dance floor.

For the newlyweds, their wedding day we pure magic. Despite being exhausted by the end of the night, it ended perfectly with guests showering them with a sparkler sendoff.

“Every minute was so enjoyable that by the end of the day, we wished there was more time,” says Angela. “It was everything we hoped for and more, and we were extremely happy.”
