    EMILY KANAREK & DAVID KERSCHNER

May 6, 2017 in New York, New York

In the Fall of 2010, Emily Kanarek and David Kerschner met during campus interviews at New York University Law School. While David was interviewing for a summer associate position, Emily was the Manager of Legal Recruiting at a firm. “Our first interaction was an informal interview,” Emily describes. “My first impression of David was that he not only seemed extremely smart, but he also had an amazing, infectious personality.

I was immediately impressed and thought he would be a great fit at the firm. It never crossed my mind that we would one day get married. After all, I couldn’t imagine dating someone three years younger than me!”

“I was sitting across from the most beautiful woman I had ever seen,” David recalls of that first interview. “I quickly realized she was also charming, funny, smart, and personable.”

“WE ARE SO HAPPY TO HAVE THE REST OF OUR LIVES TO CREATE NEW AND AMAZING EXPERIENCES TOGETHER”

After David got the job, the two became good friends. During the summer of 2014, Emily was going through some life changes and starting a new job when she decided to go out and have fun. Realizing David would be a great person to hang out with, she approached him and said, “You seem fun. Introduce me to your friends!” He took her out that weekend and, within a few weeks, it became clear that they were the perfect pair.

Two years later, David planned a weekend trip to Milford, Pennsylvania – a cute town where he and Emily spent their first weekend trip together as a couple – and proposed during a hike to Raymondskill Falls. “Later, David asked if I was surprised, to which I replied, ‘If I knew I was going to get engaged today, don’t you think I would have washed my hair this morning?’” Emily adds. “Neither David nor I had really been entirely prepared. Mid-proposal, we had to pause and Google which hand the engagement ring was supposed to go on!”

Thanks to Amy Katz Events, the wedding planning process was relatively easy. The main challenge the bride-to-be faced was finding the right wedding dress. After numerous appointments with top bridal salons and designers, Emily tried on over 100 dresses before the team at Mark Ingram steered her towards Naeem Khan’s collection; and finally, she found the perfect gown.

When the big day arrived, guests gathered at Pier 60 at Chelsea Piers in NYC. Before she even walked down the aisle, Emily knew she was making the right decision, as David asked the kitchen to prepare a special plate of mozzarella sticks for the bridal suite. He knew she wouldn’t have much time to eat, and wanted an extra surprise for his bride-to-be while she was getting ready.

With David’s birthday being the next day, the newlyweds and their guests celebrated their nuptials until the clock struck midnight, and confetti erupted. Emily arranged for servers to pass rounds of their favorite drink for a special toast, ensuring the significance of his birthday was not lost in all the wedding commotion.

For their honeymoon, the newlyweds set off on a journey that included Tokyo, Bora Bora, and Tahiti. “David and I are so grateful to our friends, family, and everyone in the planning process for making our wedding and honeymoon everything we could have dreamed,” says Emily. “We are so happy to have the rest of our lives to continue creating new and amazing experiences together.”
