    DALE CORCORAN AND SPENCER KASSIMIR

January 18, 2015 in Los Angeles, CA

Dale and Spencer’s love story started as a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy. A week before their first encounter, Dale wrote out a list of character qualities she hoped her future husband would have.Later that night, she had a strange dream that she needed to fly from Australia to New York as soon as possible.

“Apart from it being my lifelong wish to see Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, I had no prior plans to visit America until that moment,” she explains. “When I woke up that morning I phoned my parents, told them I needed to be in New York, and that I had to make it happen somehow. As I just finished law school and had no immediate plans, I decided to take a chance and booked a flight.”

“I DECIDED TO TAKE A CHANCE AND BOOKED A FLIGHT.”

On October 15th of 2010, Dale and Spencer met at the old PanAm/Delta terminal at New York City’s JFK airport while waiting for their luggage. After talking at the baggage carousel, Dale asked Spencer out on a date the following night. Since Spencer had worked on films in the past and this was Dale’s first trip to NYC, he gave her a tour and showed her where various movies were made, including the romantic Bethesda Fountain.

In the weeks that followed, the two connected once again in California (where Spencer lived), which led to him flying out to Australia for Dale’s law school graduation and to meet her parents. From then on, the couple made several transcontinental flights to be together until Dale moved to the U.S. permanently and the two were engaged to be married.

With Dale spending several years converting to Judaism, the wedding day was a long-anticipated event. Once the wedding planning process began, family members persuaded the couple to have a large celebration since people would be flying in from all over the world to attend the nuptials. A Jewish ceremony was held, and the bride made special programs detailing all the traditional aspects of the ceremony for those unfamiliar with Jewish wedding traditions.

“During my wedding speech, I read out the list of character qualities I wrote out right before I met Spencer,” says the bride. “At the time, I didn’t think any man would come close to all the criteria, but Spencer matched all of them and more.”

During the reception, one of the newlyweds’ most memorable moments was their first dance to Fred Astaire’s “Cheek to Cheek.” Months spent learning how to ballroom dance paid off, and the groom also performed “Everlong” by the Foo Fighters on the guitar – a huge hit with the Aussies in attendance.

Several personalized details were included throughout the wedding, such as a live performance by the Jersey Boys, an Australian-themed signature cocktail called the “Pavlova Americano,” and an Australian and American flag duo placed on the menu, place cards and wedding invitations. Guests also enjoyed the world-renowned silhouette artist Karl Johnson, who cut remarkable silhouette profiles of the guests for wedding favors, and live artist Greg Kalamar painted the entire celebration as everyone danced the night away.

“Our wedding was probably the only time in our whole lives when both of our families and friends would be together in one room; and that made the day incredibly special and important to us,” says Dale.
