Lauren Tanzer & Noah Bogan
December 10, 2011 in Anguilla
When Lauren Tanzer shook Noah Bogan’s hand on the first day of her new job after college, she had no idea that seven years later Noah—her boss at the time—would get down on one knee on a chilly East Hampton Beach and ask for hers. But from the moment he saw her in the boardroom at Lehman Bros., Noah knew he’d met his match. “The first day that I met her, right off the bat, I was blown away,” the hedge fund trader confides.
Rather than a lavish ceremony in a New York City wedding hall, the adventurous Manhattanite couple decided a destination wedding would better suit their simply chic style. “We were looking for something off the beaten path,” real estate agent Lauren says. “We wanted to keep it intimate.” After friends described the Viceroy Anguilla, the pair traveled to the Caribbean and fell in love with everything about the island and the resort.
On their wedding day, 42 of the New Jersey natives’ closest family and friends gathered to witness the pair become husband and wife. The outdoor ceremony was almost ruined by grey, drizzly weather, but just before Lauren walked down the aisle in a custommade gown, the clouds broke and a dazzling Caribbean sunset shone through as a string quartet played. Both consider that moment the most memorable from their wedding. “It was absolute perfection,” Lauren recalls fondly, “almost as if someone was watching out for me.”
After exchanging vows and rings—hers a family heirloom passed down from a be loved grandmother who was Lauren’s best friend—the wedding party celebrated the night away to the musical stylings of a steel drum band and local DJ.
The following summer the Bogans travelled to Turkey for their honeymoon where they relaxed on the beaches of the Aegean Sea before heading north to Istanbul to soak up the country’s rich cultural history.
