    TIYA ADEM AND DAVIDE GIACHERO

March 28, 2015 in Maui, Hawaii

Tiya Adem first met Davide Giachero in 2007 when she was vacationing in Ethiopia. They were introduced by a mutual friend over dinner, but didn’t start dating until three years later. Davide knew at first glance that he would spend the rest of his life with her. During a trip to Italy, he proposed to Tiya while on the beach of Baia dei Saraceni.

The wedding planning process was headed by Melika, Tiya’s sister. “She helped raise me and has always been like a mother to me,” Tiya says. “She probably knows me better than I know myself.” Having always wanted a destination wedding on a small island, it was decided that Maui would be the perfect choice for celebrating with family and friends.

“IT WAS SUCH A BLESSING TO HAVE EVERYONE TOGETHER, AND IT MEANT SO MUCH TO US.” TIYA ADEM

Their destination wedding in Maui took place at the Four Seasons Resort–a location that inspired a great deal of their wedding vision, with its stunning and glamorous atmosphere. Tiya’s wedding gown also helped shape the event’s theme and ambiance, as she chose a masterpiece from Bluemarine’s 2015 bridal collection. It was elegant and luxurious, and an ode to femininity, romance, tenderness and grace.

The wedding coordination team at the Four Seasons Resort took the couple’s initial ideas and were able to create a spectacular atmosphere, incorporating their chosen color palette and personality into the wedding décor. White flowers covered the grassy ceremony aisle and adorned every surface in sight. Tiffany blue accents were highlighted with dripping crystals, adding a timelessly elegant effect. “I loved the contrast of the asymmetrical cake as well,” says Tiya. “It added a little whimsical touch while keeping with the color scheme.”

On the day of the wedding, the bride was filled with emotions and the excitement of having all of her friends and family fly in from around the world in order to celebrate the nuptials. Everything throughout the course of the day was more than the couple could have hoped for. The floral arrangements, centerpieces, food, and DJ surpassed all their expectations, and guests still talk about how beautiful the entire day was. It was a night that nobody wanted to end.

Although the wedding décor was phenomenal, the newlyweds both maintain that their favorite part of the event was the presence of their friends and family. “I was especially excited to have had my grandmother there, who came all the way from Ethiopia to be with us,” Tiya says. “It was such a blessing to have everyone together, and it meant so much to us.”
