Kayla Bukowski & Carl Stumpf

April 21, 2018. Southampton, New York

Just like many quintessential love stories, Kayla and Carl were high school sweethearts. “Our connection throughout high school was unspoken but obvious to the both of us,” describes Kayla. “After years of hallway eye contact and admiration, we were finally brought together by mutual friends at sixteen and seventeen years old. We will never forget the first time our hands touched; it is still a moment we talk about today. There was a tingle that went through both of our bodies, and we both knew in that moment, our connection was different. Our connection wasn’t just a high school crush – it was love.”

Four and a half years later, the two were driving to meet their families for dinner. “At 21 years old, everyone told us we were too young to settle down and commit,” Kayla recalls. “Our response always was, ‘Why would we waste time looking for the type of love we already have?’ We are confident in our love and confident there is no one more perfect for us than each other.” Before dinner, the car stopped at the couple’s favorite marina in Westhampton, where Carl popped the question.

The wedding planning process began immediately, and an April wedding in the Hamptons was soon in the works. “The Hamptons have always been a place of comfort and peace for us,” Kayla explains. “Researching ‘Hamptons wedding venues,’ The Muses appeared. We went for our first tour and booked within the first month of our engagement. Next, we started seeking our vendors – caterer, photographer, videographer, florist, DJ, hair/makeup etc. All of our final vendors were personable, comforting, and understanding of our wedding day vision. We envisioned a romantic, natural, but glamorous spring wedding. Throughout the wedding planning process, our vendors took the time to learn our personalities and styles in creating exactly what we imagined.”

By the time the big day arrived, Kayla and Carl were more than ready to become husband and wife. “We were not nervous; just excited to finally recite our vows in front of everyone we love as the start of our life as a married couple,” says the bride. “From our wakeup call at 6:00 a.m. to the time we arrived at our hotel room at midnight, we consciously lived and enjoyed each moment. Trusting the team, we were truly able to enjoy the celebration of our love with each other, our families and friends. We are grateful to say April 21st was everything we could have ever imagined and more. Thanks to the photos captured by IM Photo Studio and the film captured by Intrigue Wedding Films, we are able to relive these moments every day for the rest of our lives.”
