    ANGELA STERNBERG AND CASEY MINDLIN

October 22, 2016 in San Francisco, California

Angela Sternberg and Casey Mindlin met during their sophomore year at the University of Colorado, Boulder. “My initial impression of him was he looked like the happiest person in the world,” Angela recalls. “He constantly had a smile on his face and was always laughing. He was so confident without being obnoxious, and was just super easy to talk to.”

In April of 2010, towards the end of their last year in college, the two friends realized they should have been dating all along, and decided to give their relationship a chance. “Even before we started dating, I just liked being around him – his presence made me happy,” Angela adds. “Once we started dating, things moved really quickly and I think that was because we knew it was just right. Everything clicked.”

After graduation, the couple decided to move to Washington, DC. In November of 2015, Casey asked Angela if she wanted to take a tour of the Washington Monument, and the pair headed downtown during a cold, but sunny day. At the Monument, he got down on one knee and proposed.

“It turns out his friend Grant was in the bushes taking photos of us, so we have this really great shot with the Lincoln Memorial in the background, and the Monument with multiple American flags in the foreground,” Angela describes. Casey also surprised his new fiancé by reserving the night at their favorite vacation spot nearby, the Inn at Perry Cabin in St. Michael’s, Maryland.

Although the wedding planning process was stressful, it wasn’t as stressful as it could have been. Angela’s mom stepped in to help and meet with vendors in California, keeping Angela in the loop about her West Coast destination wedding. Months of hard work led to an amazing wedding day, which began with a first look session before the ceremony – something Angela recommends.

“There’s just so much buildup and pressure before you seen one another,” she explains. “Once I walked out on the Fairmont’s terrace and looked him in the eye, it was as if a rush of anxiety left my body. It’s hard to describe without experiencing it, but it just feels right.”

Keeping with the bride’s Greek background, there were special Greek influences woven throughout the wedding ceremony and reception, perfectly melding with the ambiance of a classic Bay Area wedding. “I will always remember my first dance with Casey and my father-daughter dance,” she says. “They were both very emotional and very special.”

Another favorite moment of the night was a speech given by the bride’s sister. Prior to the wedding, she had been worried about what she was going to say, yet delivered a touching speech filled with childhood memories and family jokes. She also acknowledged the groom and how excited she was to now have a brother.

“I wanted to repeat everything all over again,” says Angela. “I had a smile on my face going into the next day. I didn’t want it all to come to an end.”
