Sarah Watson & Dane Vrabac
November 15, 2014 in Phoenix, Arizona
Sarah Watson and Dane Vrabac met in New York City in September of 2010–just a few months after Dane moved to NYC from Washington, D.C., and Sarah was starting her second year of law school. Their first date was at “Employees Only,” a restaurant in Chelsea, New York, and it was the perfect match from the beginning. The pair had the same sense of humor and similar likes, so much so, they showed up to their third date at the Museum of Modern Art wearing matching outfits by coincidence.
A little over three years later–on November 14, 2013–Dane proposed outside of Sarah’s grandmother’s home in Maine, where she has spent time every summer of her life. Sarah has always considered Maine her favorite place, and it was exciting to be able to add the proposal to her list of memories that took place there.
Although the couple had made New York City their home over the years, they decided to have a destination wedding in Phoenix, Arizona, where Sarah grew up. “We knew immediately that we wanted to get married at the Arizona Biltmore, a Waldorf Astoria Hotel and were lucky enough to reserve the last remaining day in November of 2014,” Sarah says. “Planning from afar can be challenging, but was made seamless by the fact that we were able to find wonderful vendors in both Arizona and New York.”
The bride and groom eagerly awaited their wedding day, and spent the week leading up to their nuptials celebrating with family and friends. The pre-wedding festivities concluded with a wonderful rehearsal dinner at the Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort–the perfect buildup to the big day.
Arizona is known for its sunny weather, and the 75-degree temperature and clear blue skies did not disappoint. The newlyweds were also thrilled with the beautiful atmosphere their vendors were able to create for them. “From the exquisite floral arrangements and music at our ceremony, to the white couches and lush setting for the cocktail hour, to the elegant décor and fantastic band at our reception, we could not have asked for a better day,” says the bride.
