After years of ignoring her brother’s best friend, Carolina Armas began to take notice when he joined her family on vacation in the Bahamas. Daniel Bustamante and Carolina talked about everything on that trip and became a couple a month later.

A year and a half after that, while in Savannah, Ga., Danny rushed Carolina through dinner to take her by horse and carriage to one of the city’s most famous squares. The driver explained that couples who kiss under the gazebo are promised a lifetime of love and happiness together. 

Danny decided to give it a try, and as they reached the spot he went down on one knee saying, “Will you marry me?” A shocked moment of silence preceded Carolina’s excited, “Yes, yes!”

The ceremony at the parish where both families attend mass was very meaningful, and yet Carolina remembers being so entranced that they were giddy. “We only had eyes for one another,” she says.

For the reception at the Mandarin Oriental Miami, Carolina chose a white and green color palette with blush lighting. “The ambiance was ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream,’” she says. “Lightweight, airy and romantic.”

Out on the dance floor, the couple sang to each other and Danny mimed the words to their song. “The night was so full of love it was wonderful,” says Carolina.

An extended honeymoon took them to the Dominican Republic, New Zealand and Fiji, where they wound down from planning their wedding and toured the countryside.
