    KYLIE KARP & BENJAMIN BASS

September 23, 2017. Sagaponack, New York

Kylie Karp was 17-years-old and visiting her boyfriend at the University of Michigan when she first met Benjamin Bass. “Seven years later, he sent me a hilariously creepy Facebook message – I put the first couple of sentences on a cocktail napkin at the wedding,” she says. “We had our first date in the Hamptons on 4th of July weekend in 2014. As corny as it sounds, there were fireworks ever since.”

After getting engaged two years later, plans were in the works for a wedding at Wolffer Estate Vineyard in Sagaponack, New York. “Since we re-met out east, we felt strongly about getting married there,” Kylie explains. “Wolffer is our favorite place to go, and the fact that we were able to get married there was literally a dream come true.”

"THE FACT THAT WE WERE ABLE TO GET MARRIED THERE WAS LITERALLY A DREAM COME TRUE.” - KYLIE KARP

When shopping for the perfect dress, the bride-to-be chose a Monique Lhuillier gown, complemented by bridal accessories with a special meaning behind them. “My most important accessories were my necklace and my wedding band,” she shares. “My grandmother passed away very unexpectedly almost ten years ago, and when I got engaged my grandpa gave me the stone from her engagement ring to make into a necklace that I could wear on my wedding day. My grandpa doesn’t wear his band anymore, so he gave it to me to size down and wear as my own.”

The wedding décor carried out a consistent theme of blue – both, the bride and groom’s favorite color. White hydrangeas and whimsical branches also formed a beautiful chuppah for the ceremony, surrounding guests with what looked like a scene from a fairy tale. For the reception, centerpieces were designed with a mixture of greenery, white, and blue flowers. The lighting was also wrapped in moss, creating the effect of bringing the outside vineyard into the wedding tent.

“Everyone told me prior to our wedding that the day would fly by, and it really did,” the bride reflects. “However, when the ceremony started it felt like the world stopped for a moment. There is something so indescribable about the feeling I had when I was standing in front of the love of my life, surrounded by the warmth of our families, and then looking out to see all the wonderful people in our lives who had traveled from near and far to share our special day with us – all, while the most stunning sunset was happening after a beautiful, sunny September day (which I know was my grandma telling me she was there).

I will simply never forget it. Like I said in my vows, my heart could not have felt more full. For their honeymoon, the newlyweds traveled to Bali for a romantic getaway filled with romance and relaxation.
