A Romantic Wedding and 25 Person Bridal Party at Brookhaven Country Club in Farmers Branch, Texas

During sophomore year in high school, it was rumored that Ike Esedebe had a crush on Spayne Avant. Eventually, the two were formally introduced through mutual friends and discovered how they had opposite personalities. While Spayne was more on the quiet side, Ike was outgoing. They never dated in high school, but they did develop a friendship that they maintained throughout their college years.

After college, Spayne moved back to Texas and reconnected with Ike; and in January of 2016, Ike officially asked her to be his girlfriend. Two years later, he planned a special trip to California for Spayne’s birthday which, to Spayne’s knowledge, was to involve dinner with her parents and sister.

Unfortunately, the delayed arrival of their luggage threw a wrench into Ike’s secret plans, and he had to push back the restaurant reservations until later that night. Despite the initial chaos, the couple finally made it to their destination, where Spayne was surprised to see all her friends and family from across the country gathered together. In front of everyone, Ike got down on one knee and popped the question.

One extraordinary moment of the evening was when the groom’s sister gave her speech. While telling the story of Spayne and Ike’s relationship from her perspective, she pulled out a piece of paper from her purse. It was a note Ike had written nearly a decade earlier, before the two had started dating. In the note, Ike had written down that he was married to Spayne, had three kids, a house, and a nice life.

For their honeymoon, the newlyweds enjoyed a blissful trip to Hawaii and stayed at the Alohilani Resort.
