Wendy Huynh & Gordon Ka Chun Chu

April 21, 2019. Phuket, Thailand

Wendy Huynh and Gordon Ka Chun Chu have known each other for quite some time, first meeting at university. The proposal took place during a holiday in Hawaii, which inspired them to host a destination wedding by the ocean in Thailand, followed by a seaside honeymoon in Santorini. “We simply love the sea and travel all over the world,” Wendy shares. “I was very excited and a bit nervous on the wedding day – I was scared to cry at the altar, and I did! But it has been one of the warmest and beautiful feelings I ever had while marrying the love of my life. The rest of the wedding day went magically perfect with a lot of fun and happiness, with our 100 guests from Hong Kong and all over the world. The most hilarious moment was when I organized a flash mob with my gals, dedicated to my husband and his groomsmen! Lots of fun – the girls rocked!” Planned by Wedding Boutique Phuket in Thailand, the wedding décor was a stunning example of how minimalism is the new luxury. “We really wanted to create something new, sophisticated, and memorable with this wedding,” notes the planner. “Right at the end of the Phuket wedding season, on April 2019, it was the perfect moment to express ourselves with new ideas and trends for the new year to come. We created an asymmetric, ‘dried but not forgotten’ altar using ivory roses, Phalaenopsis orchids, pampas grass, and brass painted dried eucalyptus and palm leaves. The natural beauty of this Chinese bride grown up in Paris, and the elegance of the groom from Hong Kong, have been perfectly exalted by the wedding setup and décor.” With a beautiful wedding cake as a final touch, this oceanfront destination wedding in Phuket was filled with “happily ever after” magic as the newlyweds danced surrounded by hundreds of sparklers. >Written By: Lauren Malamala
