Charina Ferreira & Brian Cabielles

May 5, 2019. Riviera Nayarit, Mexico

Location: Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit Mexico; Floral Design: MarWedding

Chapter one of the Cabielles love story started back in 2007, when Charina Ferreira and Brian Cabielles were juniors in high school. Brian attended an all-male preparatory academy where they would host a Junior Prom at the end of the school year. Charina attended a magnet school for the arts and longed to be asked to the highly anticipated Belen Junior Prom.

The event was soon approaching, and Brian found himself without a date. Charina’s best friend (and Maid of Honor), Brooke, was friends with Brian and insisted that he ask Charina to the prom. That night, “lighting stuck” and Charina and Brian have been inseparable ever since.

After dating for ten years, Brian decided to pop the question. He planned an unbelievable vacation to celebrate their anniversary in the Greek Isles; and for two weeks, they toured and experienced Athens, Mykonos, Naxos, and Santorini. On the 5th of May 2017, a private yacht sailed around the island of Santorini and docked a few miles away for the most incredible view of the sunset. Brian dropped to one knee and proposed with the most beautiful 3-carat brilliant-cut diamond ring.

A dream wedding took place two years later. Charina and Brian always knew they wanted a destination wedding, but it wasn’t until it was “time” that they really started doing their research. Many destination options were tossed around, such as going back to Greece with their families, or staying domestic but going somewhere different from their hometown. Ultimately, they chose to host their destination wedding in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. With its stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, the mountains, and the dreamiest resort which they knew their guests would love – Grand Velas – Charina and Brian knew it’d be an unforgettable experience.

The minute they arrived they knew Grand Velas was the perfect location. A two-year engagement gave them ample time for their guests to plan their travels, and for the bride and groom to prepare all the weekend festivities. They hired the Grand Velas wedding planner, Andrea Garza, who assisted with all the events that were held throughout the weekend.

When the wedding weekend commenced, the couple’s families and friends were privately welcomed with drinks, massages, and personal concierge. On the evening of May 4th, they hosted a beach cocktail party where all 100 guests enjoyed live music by traditional Mariachis, fresh coconut mojitos served in custom coconuts, and views of the breathtaking Mexican sunset. The next day, the bride and groom said “I do” under the Grand Velas gazebo with a stunningly picturesque backdrop, followed by a celebration filled with delicious food and lots of dancing.

To complete their guests’ wedding experience, the newlyweds chartered a yacht the next day and invited everyone for a sunset cruise around the island. It was the most special weekend full of love.
