As an increasingly popular travel destination, Kaylen Davidson and Nick Godin chose Iceland for their honeymoon getaway – a magical country filled with incredible scenery, wildlife, and serenity. We wanted to travel to a place where we could disconnect from the world and explore one of Earth’s most beautiful countries. We both love being outdoors and prefer colder weather, so Iceland felt like the perfect choice.
We explored craters, geysers, lava fields, glaciers, the blue lagoon, and took many off-the-beaten-path roads to explore the beautiful, untouched nature. The amount of water was astounding; everywhere you looked it felt like there was another waterfall. We explored many, but our favorite was hiking up through Seljalandsfoss and being able to take in the view from behind the massive falls – and then finding the lesser-known Gljúfrabúi Falls that’s hidden through a gorge. We had this spot all to ourselves, standing inside completely soaked, just us and the rushing water echoing through the gorge.
The wildlife in Iceland was definitely a highlight of the trip. The sheep and Icelandic horses stole our hearts! We stayed in a little guest house in the middle of nowhere for part of the trip called Fagrabrekka, and this place was magic. There were Icelandic horses on the property, and we started each morning feeding and spending time with them.
The owner who lives in the main house made us a raw, vegan cake upon our arrival; we got the recipe and make it here at home more often than we probably should! We also made sure to take time to see the city of Reykjavik. We found a gem of an eatery! It’s called Gló and has neighborhood cats that occasionally join you for a meal!
The entire country casts a spell on your heart, makes you feel at peace and your soul fulfilled. We cannot wait to go back!”
