GLAMOROUS WEDDING DRESSES FOR BRIDES IN 2023
Every year, brides-to-be turn to top bridal designers to see what wedding dresses are in style for the upcoming season. We’ve seen countless wedding gown styles over the decades, from the elegant to the coquettish. Even black wedding dresses make the occasional appearance for a select few avant-garde brides. In recent seasons, however, bridal designers seem to be aiming for a balance between timelessness and modernity. Designers are also showing off their own interpretations of glamour and elegance, whether they’re creating lace long-sleeve wedding dresses or a minimalist gown with impeccable tailoring. There’s an abundance of beautiful details to appreciate within the current collections of glamorous wedding dresses.
The newest bridal gowns from Alon Livné White are quite varied in their aesthetics. The ruffled JULIA gown is young and playful with a full skirt of cascading ruffles. AMBER and EMMA are two figure-hugging showstoppers that accentuate the natural waist, while offering brides a choice between a glamorous and glitzy look, or a modern and unembellished gown.
When Rami Al Ali launched the fourth edition of the label’s demi-couture bridal line, Rami Al Ali White, the focus was on glamorous wedding dresses that were feminine yet strong. These elegant bridal gowns are timeless in their silhouettes and flourishes, with classic mermaid wedding gowns and off-shoulder dresses being some of the standout designs.
For brides who are shopping for glamorous wedding dresses with a touch of lace, the Fall/Winter 2023 bridal collection by Georges Hobeika is filled with head-turners. Deceptively simple mermaid silhouettes with long sleeves are a masterpiece of peek-a-boo lace and flowing fabric. High-low skirts look modern when layered over a beaded strappy gown for a two-in-one wedding dress option. And dramatic trains continue to be available for brides who want to make the ultimate wedding ceremony entrance.
BERTA, a favorite among the boldest and most fashion-forward brides, also delivers in their signature sensual approach to bridal fashion. When it came to designing the BERTA PRIVEE No. 9 collection, the team was adamant that their glamorous wedding dresses “are not for the faint of heart.” With nine dresses in the collection, each gown represents a different personality – and they’re all fierce and powerful in their own way.
It's always fascinating to see where designers draw their inspiration from; and it was fitting that
Ines Di Santo focused on Murano chandeliers to create her Fall/Winter 2023 bridal collection. Named “Illuminated Soiree,” these wedding gowns are a play on extravagance, texture, proportion, and dimension.
There’s also a great deal of texture in the Fall 2023 bridal collection from Monique Lhuillier. The vibe? An 18th century chateau in the French countryside, where wildflowers and French architecture create the most romantic backdrop.
“My love of gardens is on full display in print, color, and silhouette,” says the designer. “Lavender blooms dance over gowns with its calming and delicate beauty. A bouquet of garden roses and field flowers on chiffon and gazar add a sense of lightness and whimsy.”
Galia Lahav brides can enjoy a more modern interpretation of whimsy with the Fall/Winter 2023 “Darling” collection by GALA. This collection is “sexy yet soft,” offering a twist on bohemian elegance. Think 3D embellishments, low backs, cut-outs, corsetry, irregular hemlines, and tailored sleeves.
For an ultra-feminine bridal gown, the “Fields of Halo” collection by Arava Polak features several glamorous wedding dresses, from strapless to long-sleeved. Inspired by the divine feminine spirit within every bride, there’s an ethereal aesthetic to the collection that comes to life through handcrafted French laces, soft tulle, organza, and lavish embellishments. These gowns would make for an exquisite bridal moment in any setting, from Los Angeles, to Madrid, to Cape Town.
When creating the Anne Barge Fall 2023 bridal collection, Shawne Jacobs was inspired by the beauty and serenity of the countryside. This may pertain to anything from the rolling hills of Kentucky, where she grew up, to the peaceful meadows of New England, making it an incredibly approachable and relatable collection for many brides.
“I wanted to capture the simplicity of shapes, lightness of textures, and exquisite embellishments that surround us but are often overlooked,” says Shawne. “Sophistication is emphasized through mindful curation from the ideas of my past, entangled with the modern twists from a fresh imagined future.”
There’s so much artistry in the draping and shaping of luxurious fabrics. Designers like Rivini and Rosie Assoulin succeed in creating glamorous wedding dresses that are part bridal fashion, part sculpture. Flowers are very clearly a favored embellishment of the year, covering the skirt of a Rose Assoulin gown while making a more delicate and demure appearance in the latest collection by Hermione de Paula.
The only thing more exciting than celebrating the latest fashion successes of bridal designers around the world, is the anticipation of seeing those glamorous wedding dresses on real-life brides. With this season’s collections and diverse options, there’s undoubtedly a perfect wedding gown waiting for every bride who is tying the knot in 2023.
