Last month, the City of Light kicked off the 2018 style season with none other than Paris Couture Fashion Week. Top designers presented their Spring/Summer 2018 collections – many of which, could easily transition into exquisite bridal looks. The runways were flooded with inspiring creations for the upcoming months, but it was the collections from Chanel, Elie Saab, and Schiaparelli that especially stood out as Paris Couture Fashion Week stars.

Chanel

As one of the world’s original couturiers, Chanel delivered a floral-filled Spring/Summer 2018 collection teeming with dreamy layers of silk tulle, chiffon, and organza. Texture was created with botanical embroidery made of stones, strass, sequins, and beads, and it was thrilling to see a reappearance of Coco Chanel’s iconic tweed suit – this year, in feminine colors of soft pink and white.

For a vintage or daytime wedding ceremony, tea-length dresses in the palest shades of blush are paired with veils and floral headpieces for a charming ensemble. Lines are superimposed, combining finesse and volume in a cascade of floral embroidery and ethereal flounces.

The collection also featured a series of mini dresses that would be perfect for any pre-wedding parties with guests, or a second look for a wedding night afterparty. From high-neck silhouettes to strapless minis with delicate overlays, the sequins and floral details are ornate, yet delicate and fluid.

Elie Saab

Filled with sparkle and shine, Elie Saab’s Spring/Summer 2018 lineup was undoubtedly one of the stars of Paris Couture Fashion Week. Gowns bursting with beading, jewels, and feathers in a glistening palette of silvery blue and champagne allude to Paris during the 1920s, when starlets like Kiki de Montparnasse and Josephine Baker reigned supreme. These bold dresses would fit seamlessly into the most lavish of black-tie weddings, and could be worn by any bride who loves to embrace the dramatic, unexpected, and celebratory side of fashion.

Schiaparelli

The Paris runways were momentarily turned into a world of escapism, as Schiaparelli’s collection embodied fantasy and imagination, inspired by past centuries. With a look of regality, the Italian design house created stunning gowns featuring ruffles, empire waists, high necklines, and stunning lace – absolutely apropos for a destination wedding in Europe. The most unexpected showstopper? A gorgeous hooded number that conjures up visions of princesses sneaking off to the garden at night for a romantic rendezvous.
