13 showstopping wedding gowns – fall / winter 2018

As we near the end of 2017, we can’t help but feel excited for brides who will be tying the knot during the Fall/Winter 2018 wedding season. During this past October’s New York Bridal Fashion Week, designers displayed some incredible, showstopping wedding gowns that suit a variety of aesthetics – regal fabrics, billowy cuts, hand beading, plunging necklines, and more.

The first dress in our “baker’s dozen” of bridal gown showstoppers is from Paolo Sebastian’s collection, aptly named “Once Upon a Dream.” Pairing a nude blush dress and veil with silvery embellishments, this dress evokes a feeling absolute enchantment. Keeping with the fairytale princess vibe, Ines Di Santo’s ballgown was created for the modern-day Cinderella, and a blush number by Pallas Couture leaves a stunning impression with lace sleeves and a lush train.

Galia Lahav’s Fall/Winter 2018 collection embraced an ethereal look with a sweeping off-shoulder dress, while Berta presented a jaw-dropping gown combining dreamy appliques with a sexy plunging neckline.

There was a consistent theme of regality at New York Bridal Fashion Week as well, with many designers drawing inspiration from European monarchies. Vera Wang’s bridal gown showstopper revisits a dramatic silhouette from the Elizabethan Era, and Elie Saab’s ballgown is covered in a textured blanket of white appliques. Francesca Miranda also designed an exquisite gown and bridal cape duo, which looks as if it was created during the Italian Renaissance.

Looking for a more contemporary wedding dress? Lee Petra Grebenau has a sleek and sexy showstopper with a beaded peek-a-boo effect, and we love Dany Mizrachi’s backless number that would complement hourglass figures to perfection. Naeem Khan’s tiered, tassel-lined bridal gown offers plenty of movement, and was inspired by the 1970’s. Pnina Tornai brought her signature flair to the runway with a sparkling fitted gown and train that embody the winter wedding season – especially with embellishments that mimic the look of snow-topped foliage. If you prefer a little less glitz, however, Isabelle Armstrong’s striped wedding gown with a subtle shimmer is a flawless marriage between couture shapes and modern simplicity.
