Paris Fashion Week wrapped yesterday, with Karl Lagerfeld’s last designs being showcased at Chanel’s Autumn/Winter 2019 show. Many industry A-listers showed up to honor the late designer, such as Anna Wintour, Claudia Schiffer, and Naomi Campbell, and runway models included Lagerfeld’s favorites, Kaia Gerber and Cara Delevingne. A moment of silence was observed, and there was a tearful standing ovation as the models did their final walk to David Bowie’s “Heroes” – this time, without anyone appearing from backstage to take a closing bow. Chanel

Dior
This season, Dior delved into history to present a new collection dedicated to female empowerment. Designer highlights include a black and gray ensemble that serves as an ode to the Teddy Girls – a British subculture of the 1950s. Dior also revived its signature “Bar” suit, paring feminine curves with a masculine finish
Valentino
When a Paris Fashion Week runway show brings Celine Dion to tears, it’s worth mentioning. The Fall/Winter 2019 collection by Valentino was, quite simply, a celebration of love. Cascading fabrics, vibrant colors, and images of people kissing were a theme throughout the collection, and Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli succeeded in presenting relevant looks that are classically feminine. On the Valentino Instagram page, the collection is summed up by the perfect quote: “I’m in love with the dark and light in you. Both are bright, both are quite unbearable.”
Alexander McQueen
Edgy and glamorous, the Alexander McQueen Autumn/Winter 2019 collection was inspired by various industrial elements. A silver dress of laser cut metal sequins alluded to the heddle of a loom, a stunning wool silk tuxedo featured slashed shoulders and oversized taffeta rose drape, and a sheer black tulle gown was inspired by machinery via silver chains and glass stones
