Alexandra mor debuts a luxury ivory alternative

This year, jewelry designer Alexandra Mor will be debuting a first of its kind, haute couture Tagua Seed Collection during NYFW at Vogue Italia's annual US Protagonist event. Her timing is impeccable in today's market, where luxury is being redefined.

For Alexandra, the possibilities that the Tagua offers are relevant, not only to her own personal journey, but to the discussions that must take place about the future of our planet. With this collection, Alexandra intends to bring attention to Tagua seeds as a luxury material, presenting them as an effective replacement for elephant ivory. 

She hopes these bespoke jewelry pieces will bring awareness to the tragic reality of species on the brink of extinction, the preservation of native forests, and the people and culture that depend on their survival.

As part of Alexandra's journey in Bali, the new Tagua Seed Capsule Collection incorporates traditional Balinese workmanship and heritage with the use of wild-harvested Tagua seeds from the Amazon rainforest – a sustainable, botanical alternative nearly identical to elephant ivory.
