During what will hopefully be one of the last – if not the last – virtual fashion events before we return to the runways in person, April’s New York Luxury Bridal Fashion Week marked the beginning of a new season of collections from the world’s top designers. Several of the notable Spring/Summer 2022 trends are timeless details, as weddingwear should always transcend temporary fads. Still, designers have presented new ways of incorporating these bridal trends into collections that are just as modern as they are classic. Here are some of our NYLBFW favorites.

Spring/Summer 2022 Bridal Trends from NYBFW
Sumptuous Ruffles
Anne Barge did not shy away from romance for the Spring/Summer 2022 season, releasing a line of gorgeous bridal gowns including this number with sumptuous ruffles and a voluminous silhouette.

Throwbacks

Many brides have been walking down the aisle in heirloom gowns that were worn and passed down in their families for generations. In that same spirit, Amsale’s Spring/Summer 2022 “Archive” collection consisted of five iconic gowns that have shaped the brand’s identity over the past 30 years.

3D Appliques
Floral embellishments will always be present in the world of bridal fashion; but for next year’s brides, Eisen Stein has mastered the art of carefully placed 3D appliques for a peek-a-boo effect that is seductive, yet incredibly feminine and delicate.

Off-Shoulder Wedding Dresses
Several NYLBFW designers showcased off-shoulder wedding dresses this season, making it a popular Spring/Summer 2022 bridal trend. Many gowns were embellished by the volume of puffed off-shoulder sleeves, but we love the sultry, barely-there drape of the GAEL gown from Neta Dover’s 2022 “Finesse” collection.

Dreamy Tulle
Fairytale weddings call for gowns made of dreamy tulle, and Mira Zwillinger’s 2022 collection utilizes the ethereal fabric in striking, modern ways.

Little White Dresses
From bridal showers to elopements, to chic city celebrations, there’s always a reason to sport a little white dress. Peter Langner’s “Maiori” dress is a beautiful little number with lace appliques and long bishop sleeves.

Bridal Pantsuits
Few things are as stylish and sophisticated as an immaculately designed bridal pantsuit. We love the “Bowie” bridal jumpsuit by Ines Di Santo with a high halter neckline, peek-a-boo midriff, and draped panels.
