A three-day getaway can work wonders for restoring one’s energy, whether it’s a mid-wedding planning break or an impromptu romantic weekend at a warm-weather location. For the Wedding Style team, spending a few days at Bungalows Key Largo was the perfect way to indulge in a little rest and relaxation.

Upon arrival, our group was greeted by friendly, ready-to-assist staff, cold washcloths, and a “Tiki Tai” – a delectable cocktail that went down a little too smoothly. We were then led through automatic turquoise gates opened by the push of a button (via our golf cart driver) and met by a wonderful sense of stillness and serenity, where the bungalows are situated. This adults-only, all-inclusive resort is a first for Florida, namely the Keys. It boasts 135 private bungalows, or rooms, with an outdoor bougainvillea-filled veranda, shower, and – my favorite – a soaking bathtub.

Happy Hour took place aboard the property’s two tiki boats, which offer a prime spot for taking in the sunset. Handcrafted pre-dinner cocktails were enjoyed at Hemingway Bar, featuring Art Deco inspired décor and amazing ocean views. A multi-course dinner followed at Bogie & Bacall’s, where the chef showcased layered, rich flavors with hints of citrus in the background, bringing the palate to life.

On the second day, breakfast was served at Fish Tales before setting off to explore Bungalows Key Largo on foot and survey the palm tree-lined resort. Next stop was the Zen Garden Spa; and as the name indicates, it indeed delivered an experience of calm and quietness. The outdoor treatment cabanas were nestled into black, bamboo-filled areas, which were private and cozy. I opted for the Bungalows Signature Facial – a skin revitalizer – and Jose, my aesthetician, left my skin glowing!

After some much-needed rest and relaxation at the spa, pre-dinner cocktails took place aboard Lady B, followed by dinner at Sea Senor with the freshest, local Mexican fare.
Our final day involved us setting sail on the Lady B for an exciting snorkel excursion within the world’s third largest reef system. It was a wonderful day of exploration, kayaking, and swimming. Even during cocktail hour, we were fortunate enough to spot a mother manatee with her baby for a quintessential Florida moment.

Dinner at Fish Tales consisted of an endless stream of pasta dishes, fish, steak, and sides – each dish, being even more delicious than the other. Think “big family dinner,” where everyone is sharing, chatting, and laughing. Fully satisfied from the great food and drink, I walked back to my bungalow one last time with the scent of jasmine trees wafting through the night air.

Bungalows Key Largo is the perfect romantic getaway, where couples and travelers can get away from it all and just be. There’s an array of watersports such as snorkeling, kayaking, and inshore reef fishing; and there’s some low-key options like yoga, lounging poolside, or taking a sunset cruise. Staff are at the ready with welcoming smiles and a friendly, accommodating demeanor, and the food and drink options are endless.
