Over the years, many Wedding Style couples have gotten engaged during the holidays – especially Thanksgiving. It’s truly the perfect time for a romantic proposal, whether the question is popped in private or in front of the family during dinner; and an engagement is just one more reason to celebrate love and be thankful for all the joy in our lives. Here are seven real Thanksgiving proposals and the beautiful couples who were married after that “she said ‘yes’” moment.
Naomi & Gabriel – Naomi and her family had traveled from Miami to Dallas to spend Thanksgiving with Gabriel and his family. After Gabe proposed, both families were able to celebrate the engagement together (and Naomi’s mother turned out to be “the wedding planning extraordinaire”). View Wedding
Alison & Arnold – Just before sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner with their families in 2015, Arnold proposed to Alison, and everyone celebrated after at a Dallas Cowboys football game. The next summer, the two tied the knot in a stunning chateau in France. View Wedding
Heather & Richard – Three years after meeting each other, Richard proposed over Thanksgiving weekend at his lake house in Bass Lake. Both his and Heather’s families were present, and it was extra special for Heather, as it was the last trip her mother took before she passed away. Before their destination wedding in Hawaii, the couple exchanged vows during a touching private ceremony at her mother’s bedside. “I’m forever grateful that she was able to see us get married,” says Heather. Dayna & Benji – Benji’s family was visiting Dayna’s family for Thanksgiving when everyone gathered at the Lincoln Park Zoo to see the lights. Secretly, Benji had arranged for a Mariachi band to make an appearance and sing Dayna’s favorite song (“Billie Jean” by Michael Jackson). He ended up popping the question in front of their families and about 100 bystanders. View Wedding
Julie & Stacey – Knowing their friends and family would be in town for Thanksgiving, Julie planned a surprise proposal in Miami by the water. After Stacey accepted, everyone celebrated later that night with an engagement party. View Wedding
Brooke & Craig – Thanksgiving is a major tradition in Brooke’s family, so she and Craig traveled from Florida to Washington, D.C. to celebrate with more than 40 friends and family members. Before Thanksgiving dinner, everyone went around the table to say what they’re thankful for. When it was Craig’s turn to speak, he turned to Brooke and said, “I always want to be a part of Thanksgiving and your life, so…” and dropped to one knee. View Wedding
Nikki & Mahan – It was Thanksgiving of 2015 when Nikki arrived at Mahan’s sister’s home, only to find her then-boyfriend down on one knee with their families standing behind him. “Her face was the most priceless thing that I have ever witnessed,” Mahan says. View Wedding
