Quintessential Parisian wedding décor usually includes an eye-catching mix of gilded accents, splashes of color, lush textures, and an undeniable air of French glamour. Jean-Charles Vaneck, CEO of Sumptuous Events in Paris, created this exquisite tabletop filled with so many details, we couldn’t help but examine all the elements that serve to create a perfectly styled table. As a full-service wedding planning and event design firm (located on the Champs Elysees, of course), Sumptuous Events also serves the Miami and New York City areas. Named “The Sumptuous Galaxy” in honor of Classic Blue being the 2020 Pantone Color of the Year, this vibrant table setting is but one shining example of Vaneck’s work, and what future couples can look forward to when partnering with Sumptuous Events for their own dream wedding.
First and foremost, Vaneck chose one of the most luxurious hotels in Paris for this styled tabletop shoot – the Shangri-La, where Napoleon Bonaparte once lived. Beautiful tabletops can make an airplane hanger look fabulous, but when it comes to Parisian wedding décor, the Shangri-La sets the ultimate stage. From the emerald green tapestries to the wooden sculpture and grand chimney, the salon des familles was a great space in terms of scale and ambiance.
A multicolored tabletop can be tricky to execute, as there should always be cohesion and seamlessness between the varying elements. The navy blue table linens, however (very Parisian), add color to the look while allowing all the other décor details to pop. Laying a darker colored base draws the eye upwards to the colorful florals, which also include subtle hints of navy blue, tying the tablecloth in to the overall color palette.
Complementing his colorful Parisian wedding décor, Vaneck chose a spectacular variety of flowers to create texture, shapes, and a gorgeously dramatic flair. The floral arrangements include different types of roses, lush peonies, brightly colored calla lilies, feathery fillers, charming anemones, and orchids. What’s interesting, is how orchids served to create both a cascading effect, as well as peppering the low floral arrangements with individual blooms. According to the Sumptuous Events team, “The idea was to host a dinner underneath the ocean, with artistic floral sculptures that represent living coral, contrasting with rare and delicate flowers.”
Finally, the tableware was just as eclectic as the rest of the décor details – gold pedestals for the rose bouquets, multicolored stilts for the larger arrangements, crystal candelabras, opaque white goblets, blue plates, and gold flatware. The result? A successful Sumptuous Events tabletop that wonderfully reflects Parisian style and a contemporary artistic vision.
