New York City is one of those rare places that always seems to thrive, regardless of what chaos and uncertainty is thrown its way. As we approach a new era of weddings in a world with COVID-19 playing a factor, top hotels like Conrad New York Downtown are finding ways to safely accommodate the city’s couples for their wedding day, without sacrificing any of the service, style, or luxury. NYC micro weddings are unlike any other, as they can be just as dramatic and unforgettable without a lengthy guest list – after all, with NYC’s concrete jungle and Conrad’s architecture serving as a backdrop, couples require little else to give their guests an epic experience. We asked Meghan McDonough, the hotel’s Meeting and Events Coordinator, to share more about hosting NYC micro weddings at Conrad New York Downtown.

Q: What is included in the NYC micro weddings package at Conrad New York Downtown?
A: Perfect for intimate weddings in the heart of Lower Manhattan, Conrad New York Downtown has a micro wedding package available for couples who are looking to tie the knot in the Big Apple. With rates starting at $3,000+, the couple will enjoy one night in a Luxury Suite (with a 12 p.m. check-in, 6 p.m. check-out the following day – based on availability), welcome amenity featuring a bottle of wine and Sugarfina, in-room mini fridge, wedding set-up in room (two directors chairs, full-length mirror and steamer), and access to a specialty wedding in-room dining menu. Couples can also book up to four additional guest suites for their attendees available at a special ten percent discount off of the Best Available Rate.

For the ceremony (with seating available upon request), couples will enjoy the space for up to two-hour with access to a complimentary photographer, who will capture images from their special day. Couples can customize the space prior to tying the knot four hours to the ceremony start. To book this package or for more information, guests can email NYCCI-Salesadm@conradhotels.com.

Q: What if couples want to get married now with a micro wedding, but host a larger reception next year?
A: As an added perk, couples who would like to book their micro wedding with the hotel now and “celebrate later” with a larger wedding celebration when NYC regulations permit, will receive full access to a selection of enhancements for their special day.

Q: What are the most unique attributes about Conrad New York Downtown?
A: Our Downtown Manhattan location sets us apart. The greenery, water, and calmness of Downtown serves as a great wedding location!

Q: What about couples who choose to elope during this time?
A: Couples should still consider elopements. With a plethora of venue options that have adapted to COVID-19 changes, couples can safely enjoy an exchange of vows, have a photographer present to capture the nuptials, and celebrate their special day together!

Q: What trends do you expect to see in the NYC wedding market over the next 12 months?
A: Micro weddings – This will continue to be a trend in 2021 as there are still many unknowns with COVID-19 and local regulations.

Sustainability – Couples are more and more conscious about their carbon footprint. We have partners with ReVase, an organization that take florals from events and repurposes them, reducing waste; we have also partnered with Rethink, who we donate unused food so that the organization can provide healthy meals to New Yorkers in need.

Art Instillations – Couples are looking for more than just floral centerpieces, they are looking for art instillations – think "flower out of the vase." The concept of suspended florals or handing greenery is very on-trend.
