TRAVEL | MARCO GRASSI AND HOFA GALLERY PRESENT “DON’T JUST BE A PRETTY FACE”

When it comes to museums and art galleries, London is one of the world’s best cities in which to enjoy history, culture, and see whose name is currently buzzing within the art community. On March 31st, the House of Fine Art (HOFA) Gallery in London launched Marco Grassi’s solo show, called “Don’t Just Be a Pretty Face.” This weekend, the exhibition will be moving to HOFA’s Mayfair gallery on the corner of Maddox Street and Bond Street and will be available from April 6th – 17th.

Known for creating figurative portraits that combine realistic and abstract elements, Grassi has developed a signature style which celebrates a female subject’s identity as it stands in the exact moment when she is being painted. In his “Don’t Just Be a Pretty Face” exhibition, the Italian artist has the objective of creating an unspoken dialogue between the subject and the audience. Spectators will notice his use of uncertainty in the outline of his figures, allowing them to be integrated within his weave of colors. The facial expressions of the subjects are also a focal point, prompting observers to make a personal connection.

“Central to my forthcoming exhibition is the expressiveness of the body and my determination to portray to our younger generations a truthful and realistic picture of themselves,” says Grassi. “An image that goes deeper than cultural standards and opinions of the media and discovers the inner beauty that lies beneath the surface in all human beings.”

Simonida Pavicevic, HOFA Gallery’s curator and co-founder, remarks, “Marco is one of our headlining global artists, so we are delighted to present three solo shows with him throughout 2019. The highly anticipated show will take place across our two London galleries, moving to our LA gallery, in West Hollywood, later this year”.

For art lovers fortunate enough to be in London or Los Angeles during these exhibitions, be sure to add “Don’t Just Be a Pretty Face” to your 2019 to do list.
