GO: How did you get started in photography and what compelled you to work within the wedding niche?
A: I loved creating, whether it would be art, business, or even within my own personal projects. I was drawn to photography because of the ability to bring a vision into literal reality through a camera.

GO: How would you describe your photography style?
A: When I get asked this question, the word that I made up for my style is “cinematic,” and it kind of caught on within our industry. We take much inspiration from both the production aspect and storytelling skillset of the motion picture industry.

GO: Do you pose and instruct couples on what to do during a photo session?
A: YES! But the trick is to make it look as natural as possible. Pure photojournalists that don't give couples instruction have to rely on luck, which often doesn't present itself. I prefer a style that blends creative photojournalism with fashion-inspired posing.

GO: What is your opinion on “trendy” poses? (ex:The bride and groom facing the camera straight-on and holding hands?)
A: Boring... In fact, I dislike all trends, because they come and go, but photographs have to remain timeless. Poses that focus on compelling real, genuine emotion out of our subjects are always the images that accomplish just that.

GO: What are your favorite moments to capture during the wedding day?
A: The moments after the first kiss, bridal prep, and the couple’s portraits. The first two are filled with anticipation and the last one is where we are able to work with our clients and fellow vendors to bring our client's vision to life.

GO: How far in advance should a couple reach out to you if they wish to book you for their wedding?
A: Our studio can book for some wedding days up to 2 years in advance, but we have many days that remain free throughout the year, so I always tell a couple that if they are interested in working with us, to plan their consultation as soon as possible.

GO: What advice do you have for couples who are searching for a wedding photographer?
A: Look for someone skilled in lighting, composition, and the ability to create beautiful images in any situation not dependent on the time of day. Photographers have to work quickly, and creativity is something that not all photographers possess. If photographers go to standard poses while under pressure, they will likely not make beautiful photos out of the situation they are presented in. Beauty exists everywhere, and while many venues have gorgeous details and settings, a skilled photographer can take amazing images anywhere.

GO: Aside from weddings, are there any other types of photography you enjoy?
A: Fashion, dancers, portraits, and fine art. I love capturing beauty, so wherever I can find or create that, I am likely to be behind a camera.
