AUTHOR AND STYLIST CAROLINE VAZZANA IS ENGAGED

“Love Wins” has been a favorite saying at Wedding Style over the past several months, and it’s more encouraging and heartwarming than ever to see couples continue to celebrate love in their own way. Most recently, Caroline Vazzana – bestselling author of Making It in Manhattan, celebrity stylist, and social media influencer – has become happily engaged to her college sweetheart, David Lopes.

The engagement took place at Mad Lavender Farm in New Jersey. Lavender has always been Caroline's favorite flower, so the location had a very special meaning to her. Caroline's sister and her husband said they were going to a vineyard for a wine tasting, but when they showed up, Caroline was completely in shock when she realized had David reserved an entire lavender farm for them.

As David walked her in, their song "Have I Told You Lately" by Rod Stewart started playing and Dave proceeded to get down on one knee. Caroline had absolutely no idea any of this was plan – “hence her neon yellow nails in the photos.” Despite quarantine and social distancing orders, renting out the lavender farm was the perfect way to stay safe and socially distanced, while also creating an intimate and romantic world of their own in which to get engaged.

The couple had been dating for over six years after meeting in college on a blind double date through friends, in October of 2013. They hit it off immediately, had their first official date on Halloween 2013, and have been together ever since that weekend.

For their engagement, Caroline was wearing a BCBG dress, Charles Keith shoes and a vintage Prada bag.

“It still all feels like a dream,” she shares. “I can't believe we're engaged! With the state of the world right now, I wasn't expecting to get engaged anytime soon. I honestly didn't think my fiancé had even purchased a ring since we've been quarantined together for the past four months – it turns out he started ring shopping in January/February before all of this happened and was then just sitting on the ring waiting for the right moment.

In terms of wedding planning, we're probably going to wait until at least 2022 so we have a little bit of time to just plan and enjoy being engaged. We're looking at a few different venues and I've slowly started looking at dresses, but nothing is finalized quite yet!”
