BEL-AIR BAY CLUB HOSTS LUXURY CALIFORNIA WEDDINGS IN PACIFIC PALISADES

As a welcome change to bustling wedding resorts and banquet halls, Bel-Air Bay Club sets a scenic stage for luxury California weddings. Located in Pacific Palisades, this Mediterranean-style mansion offers ocean views and sunny skies while allowing couples and guests to celebrate in an environment that feels more like a private estate than a traditional wedding venue. We asked the team at Bel-Air Bay Club to share more about the property and what they offer couples hosting a wedding in Southern California.

GO: How would you describe the architectural style of Bel-Air Bay Club?
A: California Mediterranean. The Club was developed by Alphonzo Bell, one of the primary developers of Pacific Palisades, and was established in 1927. He designed the Upper Bel-Air Bay Club clubhouse specifically so visitors could enjoy the mythic view of the Los Angeles coastline also known as the "Queen's Necklace."

GO: What was the inspiration behind the design of your interiors and guest rooms?
A: The Bel-Air Bay Club Upper Club was designed as Spanish Colonial Revival and was configured to take best advantage of the ocean views. This is true today, as our sprawling mansion-style venue has retained much of the incredible original history and architecture. Celebrating history, whilst embracing the coastal elegance of today, our interiors are bright, light, and airy, really letting the ocean take center stage.

GO: When is your busiest time of year, and how far in advance should couples book if they hope to secure a date during those months?
A: We are fortunate to be located in Southern California which enjoys gorgeous weather year-round, which means that we are always busy. On average, we do sell out all of our weekend dates annually and recommend calling 1.5-2 years in advance for Saturdays and 6 months to 1 year for Fridays/Sundays. We are swiftly booking 2022 dates (including Fridays and Sundays), so please contact us soon if you are planning on celebrating in 2022.

GO: Is there a type of wedding that fits best with your venue? (i.e. Traditional, glamorous, bohemian, rustic, etc.)
A: With breathtaking ocean views, our sprawling 1920s Mediterranean-style mansion offers a stunning backdrop for any style event. Featuring vaulted ceilings, arched entryways, stone fireplaces, courtyard fountain, rose-lined walkways, large windows, and bright and airy rooms with the ocean views front and center; our architecture and design offer a beautiful backdrop full of charming details that serve as a foundation for you to style the wedding of your dreams.

GO: In what type(s) of cuisine does your culinary team specialize?
A:Bel-Air Bay Club Executive Chef Peter Edwards specializes in innovative, contemporary cuisine. By focusing on California's rich culinary resources, the Club's unique catering menu offers guests a fresh, intimate, and personalized experience.

GO: What type of activities are available for guests to partake in during a wedding weekend?
A: Bel-Air Bay Club is centrally located and just minutes from downtown Santa Monica and Malibu. The very best of dining, shopping, surfing, and beaches in California will be right at their fingertips!

GO: What facilities, restaurants, or catering options do you have available for wedding week events like welcome dinners or post-wedding farewell brunches?
A: We reserve the Club exclusively for one event at a time, offering clients a luxury, private experience. This being said, you may reserve the Club for multiple events based on availability.

GO: What are some nearby attractions that guests can visit?
A: Visit  Zuma Beach, Will Rodgers State Beach and Point Dume, explore Santa Monica Pier and hop on one of many amusement park rides at Pacific Park, do some shopping at the famous four-block Third Street Promenade, visit the famed Getty Villa showcasing Greek and Roman antiquities, visit the Bergamot Station which houses a variety of contemporary and fine art galleries, explore the rock formations at El Matador State Beach, tour the mid-century modern Eames House, Sip wine in a canyon vineyard and go on a safari at Malibu Wines, stroll the bluff-top path with "LA Postcard views" at Palisades Park, walk the grounds of an oceanfront estate at the Adamson House, or enjoy a hike in the Santa Monica Mountains at Malibu Creek State Park or Temescal Gateway Park.
