Fairytale Dream
San Diego, California

It wasn't quite a case of "road rage," but the love affair between Matthew Trone and Kimberly Sutherland didn't exactly fly off the starting line, either. A white BMW blocking his driveway became a daily frustration for Matthew until he met the driver.
A year later, Matthew packed a picnic, champagne and his digital camera before picking up Kimberly from school. He positioned his tripod, set the timer, and got down on one knee. "I was talking about relationships and how much Kimberly meant to me, and she thought I was celebrating her graduation from college," Matthew recalled. "We have pictures of before, during, and after my proposal."
The wedding celebration, held in Kimberly's childhood hometown, San Diego, began on the Sunday before the big day with a bridesmaids' breakfast. A Thursday evening rehearsal dinner at the San Diego Country Club, attended by 200 guests, featured a beach theme complete with sand and surf music.
Kimberly and her father have always enjoyed long walks together, so on the morning of her wedding, the two set out on what her father called the second most important walk of the day.
It was a beautiful, quiet time together, just my dad and me, Kimberly remembered. Later, my mom and I had breakfast together before heading to the hotel to do our hair and make-up. It was nice to start the day quiet and alone with each of my parents."
Matthew and Kimberly opted for a simple ceremony at the First United Methodist Church. I thought I was ready for my wedding day, but when I saw Kimberly start walking down the aisle, I was blown away by how incredibly lucky I am," said Matthew. The little details, like us whispering to each other at the front of the church, are still with me.
Afterwards, Kimberly got a sneak preview of her reception at San Diego's Loews Coronado Bay Resort, courtesy of wedding planner Helen Walker. When we arrived, Helen snuck us in the back door to see the hall before the guests sat down," she said. "It was straight out of a Cinderella story. Kimberly dressed cream-colored tables with red and coral flowers and pomanders; for the bridal table, she reversed the scheme.
Kimberly and Matthew had their first dance as soon as they arrived at the reception, setting the stage for guests to dance between courses and speeches. Just like Cinderella, the couple left at midnight, retiring to a private beach cabana at the resort.
The next morning Kimberly and Matthew flew to Hawaii for11 days of moonlit walks, snorkeling, and canoodling on white sandy beaches.
