    ROSHAL ERSKINE & ZWADE MARSHALL

December 8, 2012 in Montego Bay, Jamaica

Almost four years ago in the summer of 2008, Zwade’s friend (future best man) Colin, was his house guest for a few months while he completed his medical rotations in Atlanta.

“Colin went to college with me but we fell out of touch over the years. We coincidentally ran into each other at Lenox Mall in Atlanta. We had dinner and he remembers that the more I spoke, the more he thought of Zwade.”

“IT SEEMED IMPOSSIBLE AT THE TIME THAT WE HAD NEVER MET” - ROSHAL ERSKINE

Colin subsequently brokered an introduction and a fast friendship ensued.  ”It seemed impossible at the time that we had never met. I was attending Emory Law School and he was attending Emory Medical School, yet our paths never crossed. It took a chance meeting with a friend to bring us together,” says Roshal.

“I had been trying to convince Zwade for weeks to take me to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens for the Christmas light show and he finally got off work early enough to take me one evening. As we strolled through the gardens, I was obviously in blissful heaven soaking in the sounds and sights of the festive atmosphere.

Apparently, in that moment, the entire proposal idea came together in his head…private patio in the gardens, violins, champagne, family and close friends. He called the director of the gardens the following morning and she was thrilled to make it all happen for him within 3 days. The next call was to my mom in Jamaica to get her on a flight to Atlanta for the proposal pronto,” remembers Roshal.

“The day of the proposal, he told me that he had enjoyed the gardens so much that he invited his family to go see it too and we were going to meet them there and have dinner afterwards. When we entered the private area, the violin and cello music immediately enveloped the area.

All of a sudden, friends and family started appearing, and predictably, I started crying. He got down on one knee and I said “Yes!” And after we hugged and kissed, I turned around to greet our family and friends and saw my mom! Needless to say, that sparked a lot more tears. I was so happy. Words can hardly express just how much.”
